I'm being proactive this week -- deciding on my work outfits on the weekends to prevent morning chaos during a very busy week.

A few weeks ago, our marvelous Shannon sent me two gorgeous pencil skirts: a black and white Rachel Roy and a multi-colored burgundy skirt by Cleo Petite.

The Rachel Roy is gorgeous, but has not been worn out, since it's a bit snug, and I'm not THAT kind of "working woman." The Cleo, when it arrived, had a bit of a "sexy secretary" fit. However, I've been working on taking care of myself recently, and the skirt is now fitting me in a more ladylike manner.

Forgive the wet hair in the topknot. I plan on wearing as it appears, but am still not decided about accessories.

Gorgeous, head to toe: I have never seen you with your hair up - beautiful; your cheeks look so rosy and fresh in that top; the skirt fit is very ladylike and those booties are TDF.

Burgundy is one of my "happy" colors, and the color in my cheeks comes from a workout in the park adjacent to my house. I'm afraid I've been entertaining my neighbors with lumbering sprints, followed by walking lunges, crab walks, etc.

And PIL -- I'm as suprised as you are that this petite reaches to my knees, at 5'6"!

Ah! Shannon, that accounts for alot! This must have been a true midi on you. On me, it's just at the bottom of the knee --- which is a good length, too. No back vent means I can't run in the skirt --- but then, I teach in a 6x9 studio without a window. Where am I going to run to?

Beth Ann, elsewhere you commented on looking for a deeper blue than cobalt. What about royal blue? Maybe you don't call it that in the US?

Thanks, all, for the thumbs up. When Shannon's package arrived, I knew she was sending the Rachel Roy skirt, but she added this one as a surprise. How lovely! And "more berry/burgundy" was on my wish list, as was more patterned bottoms!

Penny: I think of royal blue as more like cerulean, but I should check that out. The word that comes first to mind is "sapphire." Maybe I should start with a ring? Just to make sure I stay "authentic?"
