Shaking up one Summer outfit x10.

I live in a lot of heat & humidity. Next 12 days are two in the 80s & ten in the 90s. I don’t enjoy it or shopping for it.

That led me to try and find a good coverage but cool tshirt & a pair of breezy crops (both duplicated) to wear for probably 3-4 x per week. I don’t want to invest in a season that’s not fun to dress in & where the clothes wear out.

Because I know that is pretty boring & because I have a passel of accessories that don’t get enough play, I’ve come up with 10 accessory variations to keep things different and interesting and keep myself happy, spending in check & to enjoy what I have.

Figured I’d share.

The pants are olive & the top a black rayon and spandex boat neck.

I am putting them & then grouping the accessories in 3s or 4s, how I’ll pair them with the top/pants.

Fantastic combos. Woman after my own heart in matching earrings and shoes! ( I don’t bother with matching bags, mostly.)
I don’t understand Fahrenheit temps since we use Celsius, but wouldn’t a long-sleeved top be too hot?

It’s averaging about 33.8c.

It’s 3/4 sleeves but I have Lupus SLE and the sun affects my flares, so I cover but with lightweight stuff.

Well, between needing to cover my skin and like 7 months of crazy temps, it keeps me covered and is a way to wear stuff other than shorts and short sleeves. I think independent of Lupus, the crops/thin 3/4 sleeve tees are more stylish than shorts. At least on me, lol.
I do also wear summer dresses.

I live in saunaland too -6 months of skirts, sleeveless and sandals for me Shorts only if I'm doing active things-I hate them too!

Such delightful pieces! I am super intrigued by your approach because mine is the opposite. My pattern interest is all in the clothing and the accessories are secondary. Love that you have so much pattern in even your earrings and shoes. These combos will make wonderful statements. You really have an artistic eye.

This seems like a fun way to deal with dressing for a season you don’t care for. How many weeks do you generally get hot summer for? Wondering because if it in the 80s and 90s now, it must last a while.

I am curious about your choice of a black top. A lighter colour would be cooler

Generally about 7 months are 80s & up. And humid.
You’re definitely right that lighter colors are cooler in the sun, I was just drawn to adding black. There’s so many things I’d be shut out of if I went by weather alone & I like black. I do have other patterns/lighter colors from seasons past. But also, I sweat & possess no magical white powers, so darker colors are practical.
Also, there’s air conditioning most places for some of each day and I can’t stay in the sun for really extended periods.

I used to live in a climate of a long hot humid summer that usually lasted from St Patrick’s Day to Thanksgiving but could be even longer some years. Breaking up the season in my wardrobe really helped, about mid July I was done with color and reverted to neutrals until mid September when it was time to bring out Hot Fall things, hot weather items in autumn or earthy colors. Try adding brackets to your accessory collections for hot weather, also bandanas that can be twisted and worn as a necklace, soaked in cold water and worn damp. The evaporation is cooling when it is hot.

Yes! It can be March to late October here but sometimes, like this year, it didn’t get to 90s until May.
Mercifully.
But 70s/80s started in March.

I actually never used this method before but last night I was thinking of ways to add interest to that outfit & simultaneously get use out of underused accessories.
So now, I might start storing some of it together but previously I didn’t.

My favorite shopping/clothing/seasons are hands down Autumn & Winter. And Spring barely exists.

You’re right, metal really can have that psychological impact. I try and mentally prep myself for it & have been known to drive places with an ice pack behind me, to try & get my core temp cooler. So much of surviving heat really is the mindset though! I try not to let my thinking about it get too abysmal or it’s considerably more miserable.

Great idea. Your climate sounds similar to mine. We are now in the last 2 weeks of Autumn and still have daytime temps in the 22-27 range (mid 70s +). So it looks like we will only get 3 -4 months of cooler weather.
Last summer I really focussed on accessories for outfit interest too. Another plus is that they don’t make you hot!

Thanks Sal, when I thought about using these particular accessories I was definitely thinking of just having fun and mostly being light hearted. I think the last time I really enjoyed wearing shorts was my mid 20s. Since then, just no, lol. Except inside at home!

Generally December thru February are under 70 but sometimes we even get stray 80s in February.
Your Autumn sounds so familiar! I always secretly envy everyone on here who gets to comfortably wear lots of fun layers.

I have a few Summer dresses that I mentally sorted some less whimsical accessories to pair up for some diversity & to use yet more stuff.
