This week I was deliberate about incorporating items with limited use outside the season. So jackets, and footwear and bottoms that work with bare legs.
1. For a Saturday puttering around house and garden:
Navy ribbed T (Uniqlo)
Navy preppy plaid ankle pants (thrifted)
Cognac belt
Navy slip-ons
I changed to Cognac fisherman sandals for ER shift later.
2. For church, relaxing at home, and a stroll on the wharf:
Navy sailboat shirtdress (Tommy Hilfiger)
Red ballet flats with ties added by me
3. For office day and staff meeting; Repeating the pencil skirt formula, and the topper combo that worked last week:
Black tank
Black blazer
Zebra print pencil skirt, black and grey
Quilted-top loafers
This came across too much like all-black to me. The skirt was darker than I remembered. In the morning rush, couldn't find the black and grey animal print scarf that would have lightened it up. Also only found one of the intended penny loafers (more masculine). That night, I moved the summer sandals into seasonal storage!
4. Last wear of summery-to -me items in warmer weights. Bonus photo bomber.
Navy print tunic
Navy straight culottes
Navy loafers (not worn all summer, but I still like them)
5.
Black lsl T
Nova Scotia tartan kilt
Teal footies (because they match the kilt so well)
Black Ecco sneakers
Black leather/mixed media jacket
Hooded trench was needed for rain.
Ever since I was ribbed about wearing the tartan of our rival province, I've tended to pass on wearing this kilt, and remembered it as being shorter than this. I took it along on the Scotland trip and realized how well it works, so it's back in rotation. The footies though make these shoes even more casual because the vamp is so high.
6. This day was my comeuppance for the hubris of my comments on the mood dressing thread. It was COLD. And our heat pump for some reason was blasting air conditioning. I couldn't bring myself to leave the bedcovers until I decided what to wear, nothing like the original plan.
Navy dot 3/4 sleeve sweater
Navy linen wide leg pants
Navy blazer (not pictured)
Navy silk scarf with warm toned paisleyish print, gift from Singapore from my daughter
Navy pumps
Hooded trench
7. This outfit was chosen to showcase this glen check blazer (that gets maybe one wear a year). To add the needed contrast near my face, I had to go with all black, not my favourite thing, so I added this floral scarf and just draped it (Katerina inspiration).
Black 3/4 sleeve mockneck T (2nd wear)
Black cuffed culottes (2nd wear)
Red floral scarf
Glen plaid Michael Kors blazer
Chelsea boots (with unseen socks), these are the new Clarks
Closeup to showcase the pattern mixing. I think I hit 4 of Angie's trends?
The jacket is too high-stance to be really current, and the culottes too low-rise for ideal proportions, but I think the black column and distracting scarf overcome that.
