Separate Purse and Laptop Bag?

Hello, ladies.
I have a teenage daughter who needs a purse.
She's also getting a laptop for Christmas.
Should I get her a separate purse and
laptop bag, or one bag that holds everything?
What would you prefer?

I already use at least 2 bags. I vote separate.

I could be wrong, but I'd imagine there are more places she'd go without the laptop than with it. So, going out shopping, or out to lunch, or meeting friends (when those things are possible and safe again) would not necessitate her taking the laptop. I would suggest two different bags.

I use a tote large enough to fit my laptop and a slim crossbody. That way I have one bag to carry around, but can take the crossbody out and use it separately if I need to.

Two bags, but try to make the laptop bag large enough and comfortable enough to carry with the smaller purse inside it.

My key criteria for purses these days are: 1) does it play well with the colors in my wardrobe? 2) is it comfortable to carry? 3) Will my phone fit inside, without the screen being in jeopardy of being scratched or cracked by the other things in my bag?

That third condition is the make-or-break decision-maker for me.

Since she’s a teenager, I would suggest a backpack with a built in laptop sleeve. The purse would be a separate bag. A cute cross body bag, unless this is her first ‘big girl’ bag.

Hi, agree with separate bags and the laptop bag being big enough to fit smaller crossbody in! Not sure where you live but I saw these at Kmart Australia- the inner laptop case is very padded. Comes in other colours (I loved the green!). My daughter’s case/bag becomes rather battered so if I was buying, I wouldn’t get a spendy one (for the laptop that is!).

what a "cross body" bag is.

I'd prefer a laptop bag that's big enough to hold everything. Basically, just a large enough bag that has a padded pocket for the laptop.

My *personal* opinion is a single bag + a protective sleeve for the laptop. Everyone is different, obviously, but I personally am much more likely to lose one of the bags when I have more than one to keep track of.

You could also get a small crossbody or clutch that fits inside the larger bag, that she could take out and use separately if she wanted to, say, go out for lunch and leave the large bag/laptop at home or whatever.
