A few weeks ago, I decided to try a pair of custom-sized jeans from Sene Studio. The premise with them is that you answer a few fit questions and send in your measurements, and they create a pair of jeans custom-sized for you, in the style/fabric you request.
I ordered my jeans--the "slim straight" style, full-length, high-rise, in a dark wash--on March 2 and they arrived today, March 18, which I thought was GREAT for a custom item.
Unfortunately, the fit is awful. Just terrible. In fact, it's way worse than just about any off-the-shelf denim I've ever tried. The supposed straight-legs cling to my thighs and calves like the skinniest of skinny jeans. The rise droops several inches below my crotch, refusing to pull up any further, while the front waistband dips well under my belly button. they steadily slide downwards if I so much as dare to waddle in them. It's so bad that I haven't included a photo here, even though I took several for customer service.
Sene offers free alterations and up to two remakes if the fit isn't right, so I'm working through that process now. I haven't heard back from them yet, but I can't imagine that these fit issues will be solved by alteration, so I'm expecting to wait another three weeks for the remake.
Soooo...the jury's still out on whether this was a worthy experiment, but so far, it's not at all the experience I was hoping for. Putting on jeans that fit so poorly made me feel like some sort of deformed monster. I'm so disappointed. Hopefully, they'll be able to work some magic to make it right.
