At the end of Sept I'm going to be in Alexandria VA for a day and a half and then at Virginia Beach for a few days. We're going to do some day trips from VB when we're not hanging around the beach.

I am doing the usual online searches for shopping destinations and other things to do, but would love to hear of any favorite shops you may have in either Alexandria or Virginia Beach.

Of course this all assumes Hurricane Florence doesn't do any serious damage to that area when it strikes land tomorrow AM. It's supposed to hit the Carolinas and not hit VA directly, but it's a truly monster storm by all measurements so it seems damage in VA is a possibility. I'm crossing fingers first of all for all the residents of the Carolinas, and secondarily for my own selfish wishes that our trip goes ahead.
