I think my first post on this subject was missed so I'm trying again:

Does anyone have any clue on where to find not horrible quality, interesting knitwear (sweaters/jumpers/whatever you want to call it) at a reasonable price? I went to ATL today but was disappointed. The sweater I liked most was itchy as anything and looked like it would snag and pill any second, and the other sweater I tried was too clingy and thin. I also tried one of those blanket sweaters but it just swallowed me alive.

I'm looking for fun sweaters with stripes, cowlnecks, dolman sleeves, etc. I'm not really interested in basic v necks or anything like that. I haven't bought knitwear in ages so I"m really stumped.

I'm looking more for regular length than tunic length. Oh, and definitely full length long sleeves.

Also, I asked about the faux fur vest but they were so unhelpful The sales girl basically said it wasn't even worth her time to look it up because it was so long gone, and pointed me to a different vest that was brown and way too long. Sigh. If anyone sees a good alternative that's nice and cropped and white/cream, let me know...

I went to Burlington coat factory yesterday and bought 3 sweater configurations. I know, I know, I'm crazy. It cools off just a little here in AZ and I run out and snatch up every sweater in sight! (And I bought another one today at ROSS...)

At Burlington I bought a Calvin Klein sweater dress, a Michael Kors belted sweater, and a Nine West poncho. (Yes, I just swallowed really hard after typing the word PONCHO.)

I was surprised to find such a bunch of fun sweaters after the cardi explosion of last year.

I know this isn't specific and doesn't necessarily help you immediately, but I have bought a lot of knitwear & knit tops at Anthropologie by scoping their sale section (in person, and occasionally online.) I've had particularly good luck with the brands Deletta, Baraschi, Ric Rac, Velvet, Little Yellow Button, and Bailey 44 holding up very well over time.

Kari, I looked at Anthro at the Philly gathering and online, but it mostly seems to be cardis. Actually, I just see a lot of cardis in general and not a lot of pullovers, so it's kind of tricky.

I could get that dead duck sweater...

NK, that sounds super. I don't think I have ever been to BCF. Crazy huh?

I just tried on a "fisherman" type sweater at Gap today that was very soft and nice. I didn't get it because the knit was a bit lose, but with a layer under I could see it being pretty versatile. I ended up getting another top, but would have gotten this sweater if I'd had it in the budget:

Maya, I am of absolutely no help. When it comes to knitwear if I am trying to find something perfect, I just find a picture and check in with Mom or my sisters. They'll find a pattern and make it for me. Living out in the sticks I have few fashion advantages but this is one I have.

Have you tried Urban Outfitters? Though I don't think any of these meet all of your criteria...What did poor old acrylic ever do to you :)? If you reached some sort of ceasefire, you would have lots more options!

Jonesy, if you have to ask me that I have to question whether or not you have ever worn something with a high acrylic content! It pills to the touch, is itchy, and looks cheap even by my low standards.

So I decided instead of getting new sweaters, I would find a way to make my existing v neck sweaters work. I was on the verge of tossing them because I just don't know what to do with them, but I think they can be saved. A pussy bow blouse and non-iron buttondown are on their way to me.

LOL. A pussy bow blouse will certainly be fab with a v-neck! I do have some sweaters with acrylic, to be honest (true confessions time!), and it doesn't bother me too much. I suppose it's usually a small percentage, though I would have to dig around and peek at some tags to be sure...It is certainly warm, you have to admit that (traps in all that body heat with its impenetrable-ness :).

I have been wanting a pussy bow blouse for ages, but it had to be just the right kind. Thankfully the Limited had one. I'd also love to get one with some kind of folksy vintage print, but I'll start off with a blank canvas.

And yes, thanks for reminding me: Acrylic also feels flammable, and I do not like that. I sit in front of a space heater all day at work and would fear being set alight.

As far as answering your knitwear goes, start a fund for your trip to HK.

Seriously though, knitwear is so hard. I am in constant need of it myself.
