This is a quality control gripe.

As you know, I am trying to add more brights (esp. reds) to my wardrobe. If you look at my wardrobe in my collections, you will see why this is a great idea! Compare to Angie's bright collection and you will understand why, looking into my closet, I was beginning to feel lacklustre. I love and thrive on colour and need to include more. I don't do her sour oranges and yellows, but I adore fuchsias, berries, and reds. Bring them on, I say!

To that end, I bought this simple true red merino tee from Lord and Taylor in the late fall. Six years ago I had great success with a charcoal merino t-neck from L&T; I washed it many, many times, wore it to the ground, multiple times a week for the first few years, travelled with it often, and am only retiring now because it lately developed some pulls that I could not mend. But again, this was after years of very hard wear (and I think my kitty was responsible for these pulls; I hadn't been able to clip his claws).

Well, I washed the new red merino sweater once, in delicate, in a non-agitating machine. As I was laying it flat to dry I noticed a big hole -- not a moth hole, but a jagged mess of a hole -- on the upper sleeve. There is no way I did that to the sweater, and no way my machine should have done that. It was washed with a bunch of other soft sweaters and nothing else.

So much for seeing red!

On the hunt again for more colour. I will take the sweater back to the Bay but don't expect much satisfaction from them on this.
