It's the sneakers and the faded denim jacket that dress down the look most. And since you weren't wearing a ball gown with formal heels and a denim jacket - the resulting visual is CASUAL.

Dressier shoes and a dressy jacket would have dressed up the outfit more - and in an easy way with what you already have. Simple switcheroo.

That said, know that you looked fab! And now you have plenty of suggestions on how to create a dressier version using similar components.

Carol first off I think you look fabulous. I do understand what you are seeing though. I think a simple change in topper would have achieved what you were seeing. A textured top would have worked too.
