Second thoughts?

I decided over the last few days that I am going to do one more final assessment of every item I bought during NAS. I hope to have time this weekend to try it all on again. It's not that I am having second thoughts about any particular item per se, but now that the order/return frenzy is done, I just want to be sure that I LOVE each piece, that it makes sense to add it to my wardrobe (my love of fall and winter clothing makes it easy to over purchase) and that the sale goggles are OFF.

While I appreciate Nordstrom's generous return policy, I don't feel right keeping something for weeks or months before returning it so I want to be 100% sold on everything that I allow to stay.

Anyone else still debating NAS purchases?

Makes sense. I still have to do my final rounds as well, particularly before paying the bill.

Susie, I think this is disciplined purchasing. Smart and responsible. I wasn't always this way and easily got (and sometimes still get) caught up in the frenzy, as you mentioned. I think you are doing the right thing and are even being considerate of the retailer. I applaud you for this.

I returned a bunch of stuff yesterday and I still have a few items that I'm undecided on. I decided I was only keeping 10's so that why some more items may go. I also need to have a try on session. I'm in agreement with you about the return policy. I've always made my decisions in a relatively short amount of time. I wouldn't feel right holding on to items until fall for example, although their return policy allows that.

Right there with you! And...I still have purchases coming. Yikes! I have returned the first two rounds with no lingering regrets (well, maybe the blue EF dress), but I still added way more than I really need for my minimal cool weather..particularly shoes/booties and pants. Hopefully I'll have everything in by next week and can do a final "love" cut.

Just for the sake of keeping it real, I bought:

2 jeans (skinny and boot/flared)
2 black pants (bootcut dressier and ponte skinnies)
1 knit tunic top
2 cashmere tunic sweaters
4 toppers
1 silk scarf
1 cropped legging (lounge wear)
1 silk tank

AND, because there is shopping beyond NAS...over the last few months I've added some other new pieces too:

Black and floral pattern woven tee (BR)
Black and gray pattern drapey tank (Dillards)
Green velvet skinnies (JCrew)
Navy tweed boxy top (BR)
Ted Baker floral scarf (Amazon)
Pewter booties (Nordstrom)
Tom's nude booties (local shoe store)

AND, I ordered but have not yet received three tanks/tops that I would wear as a layer with a topper, all from BR:

Wine crepe cap sleeve
Black drapey cami
Grey drapey tank

It's time to make smart choices, put on the shopping brakes, and then happily wear what's in my closet rather than adding any more!

yes, i returned the definite no's....but I have a couple of maybe's i'm still thinking on, and 2 items that are still on there way to me. and I have an item I picked up during NAS, but was not a NAS item, that I need to decide on.....but over all, I think I was much more disciplined than last year, so there's at least that

I haven't cut tags on anything but the two bottoms I had altered and the Zella capris. Still mulling because my impulse purchases are often regrets.

Oh, yes. I am still debating the NAS coat below. I was going to return it, but it has grown on me. I have in mind a long coat I'd like to make, but I have more sewing projects than I can realistically complete, without adding more.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep the non-NAS navy trench (second Find), but I haven't yet taken the tags off.

In the same boat here. I've already returned the first round NO's and I'm still waiting on deliveries. I'm with you about appreciating Nordstrom's generous return policy but I prefer to return items as quickly as possible. I'm giving myself one week to evaluate everything once it has all been delivered. If I'm still on the fence, back it goes.

Be careful not to judge the pieces in the hectic heat of Summer, though. Give it a little while. You can ALWAYS return later.

I'm still working through mine. I have one order of bras and sneakers coming still and an order with additional sizes and colors of tops I like. I will keep at least 3 tops-- just want to make sure I have the best fits and colors possible. I also kept a pair of ponte pants and will do a forum post to make sure that they will play well with my wardrobe before cutting the tags.

However, I also ordered some other items during the same period that I'm waiting on (40% off at Gap and BR) and hope to have a few keepers there. I NEED summer tops and shoes and replacement winter tops and sneakers.

I'm on the fence regarding two pieces: the colorblock poncho (because I found something I like better yesterday) and the mysterious Vince sweater I didn't order. There's a whole lot of new merchandise arriving in stores, and I am making triply sure I am buying only the right things. Not just things that were on sale.

Reassuring to hear that so many of you are also making sure your purchases are 100% keepers! Elly--Looking forward to what you say about the pointe pant as I passed on it and am still wondering if it would be a good fit for me. I really like the Diana Skinny Jeans, Kut from the Kloth, and had to size down (one size) to get the good fit. Otherwise, they stretched out too much.

Returning one pair of shoes so far, the wine booties, because they are way too big and so far my new size is out of stock, sadly.

Susie, I'm doing the same thing, and for the same reasons: Sale prices! Merchandise for my favorite season!

I think it's smart. Once the steady flood of boxes slow, you can really assess what you absolutely love. I'm down to about 4 pieces that really ring my bell!

I ordered, returned, and kept more items than last year, which was my first NAS. Definite keeps are the Cole Haan perforated oxfords, the NYDJ ponte ski pants, and a Halogen long cardigan.

I'm still on the fence about the Munro Lexi booties and the Vince poncho. I got great forum feedback about the poncho but am asking myself if I would wear it enough to justify the purchase.

I sent back eight items a few days ago. It felt good to have most of my decisions made at that point.

I will not get to see my purchases until the end of the month like Suz. And would have never ordered so much (and a couple in two sizes) if it weren't for the return policy. Frankly, I haven't the least hesitation taking advantage of it in terms of the store - it is clearly built into their marketing plan.

I am also waiting for the last of my boxes to make my final decisions. One big try on and decision session this weekend and then get the returns out of here.

This is very interesting to me. I have a friend who worked parttime for the NAS sales every year for several years. She told me that nearly half of NAS purchases were returned every year. This was some years ago and I don't know if this is true now. But, nevertheless, a startling statistic.

I think we get into a now-or-never mode re NAS, tending to forget that there will be other opportunites to acquire fab fall clothes at good prices.

I only purchased one item - the Treasure & Bond patchwork jeans - which I love - definite keepers! My only regret is that I didn't buy the burgandy Vince dress - and I'm still trying to come up with some plan/plot to still get it on sale! (I know - I'm dreaming.)

Already wore the skirt and cardi and am happy with those, proving trans-seasonal, but still have some footwear coming and decisions there that will involve both absolute fit and ? like, do I need it or put resources somewhere else.
Am planning on keeping the burgundy coat, but it's too hot to do much try-on's, and as Angie said, the mood is not right, so will keep tags on just in case either way, if it seems even more "yay" when I pull out more fall items, or if for some reason it's not working. It's a fun item but I want it to be fairly versatile, maybe best with some outfits but pretty good with others, so I'll grab it and use it, not baby it. Will also try it with scarves, for cool weather, and it's way too hot to get that vibe yet.
Other items were just definite no-go's so that was easy to do the returns right away.

I feel the same way about not keeping something for months and then returning it. That just doesn't feel right to me somehow, mostly when it's done intentionally.

I'm headed into my local store (Flagship, thank you very much!) to return and, I hope, exchange some items today.
