Seattle--recs and where to try Gentle Souls?

Mike and I are coming to Seattle for 2 days (Thursday and Friday) to celebrate my upcoming birthday and the end of term for him! It'll be a short vacation, and unfortunately I won't have time to meet up with people, but I'd love some recs on what to do and especially where to shop, for sandals in particular (where can I find the best selection of Genlte Souls shoes?) but also for great casual wear. The main things on my list are a great shirtdress, a printed cotton skirt (I love the yellow and white one in one of Angie's mom-on-the-go posts), stylish but comfortable sandals, sleeveless tops, a summer bag, and a couple of spring/summer cardis. With the exception of the sandals, I'm hoping to spend less than $50 on each of these items.

Here's my list so far--please suggest what I should add or remove, and where the best place is to go to each of these stores (I'll be coming from Vancouver, so should I go to Target at Bellis Fair, for example, instead of in Seattle? I also need suggestions for a good place to go for an inexpensive but tasty lunch, and coffee shops. We're going to have dinner at the Tap House Grill because we're beer fiends and they have 160 varieties on tap.

We will definitely be going to the Tulalip outlets on Quil Ceda boulevard before coming to Seattle, too, because my husband likes to get cargo pants and undershirts there. Does anyone know if the Kenneth Cole outlet there carries Gentle Souls? I'll probably hit the JCrew outlet and the BR outlet, and maybe some of the others while we're there.

I saw some Gentle Souls at Sole Food in University Village. There's also a J Crew and Anthropologie there.
There's a J Jill in Pacific Place in downtown Seattle. I haven't been in the store in years, so I'm not sure if they have shoes.
Downtown Seattle Nordstrom Rack has an entire floor dedicated to women's shoes. Last time I was there I got Kate Spade and Cole Haan ballet flats.

Hi Brianna...I like the Anthropologie at University Village a little better than the downtown one. Also at UVillage is a shoe store that carries Gentle Souls and many eclectic comfort brands called Sole Food (http://www.shopsolefood.com )

Nordstrom's carries some styles of Gentle Souls as well.

The Target at the Northgate Mall is one of my favorite Target stores...just off of I-5, North of Seattle.

p.s. oops...the Target is actually NOT at the Northgate Mall, but it's the block just North of it, I think, with it's own parking garage ( I got confused when I looked for it for the first time too!) but it's the same exit off the freeway.

Thanks! I will add UVillage, the Northgate Target, and the downtown Nordstrom Rack to the list, then. I checked with J Jill and they don't carry any of their shoes or sandals in stores.

Hi Brianna, do you know what part of town you're staying at? There is a store in Fremont called Burnt Sugar that carries Gentle Souls shoes, although I didn't see any sandals last time I was there. I wouldn't say it's worth a trip, but just in case you happen to be there.... They also have a lot of Campers and Biviels and they are pretty pricy overall.
As for lunch places, a few veggie options are:
Cafe Flora
Aqua Verde ("healthy" mexican on the water, go there if the weather is good)
Sunlight Cafe
Portage Bay cafe (I've only been to the U location)

There is also a TJ Maxx one block east of the Northgate Target, check it out if you have time. I am sure you'll get a ton of recs here, but if I remember something else, I'll post it. Happy birthday and have a great trip!

Oh how fun! Happy birthday Brianna! I think the nice spring weather will peak at the end of the week so you'll have some lovely sunshine for your outings.

I don't really have much to add except that I love Express and you might find some of your items there (shirtdress, skirt, sleeveless tops, cardis) at the prices you're after. There are several Express stores, one is downtown, and there are more in the malls, just check their store locator after you've determined your route.

Also want to second all of Marianne's recos for lunch (except I haven't been to Sunlight Cafe, but I've been to all the others.) Agua Verde is probably the funnest in that it's right at the water. If you're up to it, you can rent a Kayak there and paddle around on Lake Union before you enjoy your delicious Mexican food and margarita It's a great way to see a little bit of the city. http://www.aguaverde.com/

Oh wow, what fun ideas! Express will definitely go on the list. We're staying right downtown, on Madison at 5th Ave. Has anyone been to Dahlia bakery? I'm thinking of going there for lunch, especially because it sounds like they have an awesome version of my favourite dessert in the world, coconut cream pie (and it's walking distance from my hotel).

We'll only be staying one night in downtown Seattle and the night before that we'll be camping somewhere relatively near Tulalip and the outlet stores.

Brianna! I’m sorry to miss you! Happy Birthday and I hope that you and hubby have a great little rendezvous.

You HAVE to go to the Dahlia bakery! The macaroons are KILLER – stocks are low because their goodies are SO popular. You’ll also love their coconut cream pie. Keep us posted and perhaps I’ll bump into you. I’m shopping with a client ALL day on Thursday.
