I mentioned in the recent Seattle meetup thread that I would be in town for a meeting in mid-July. I would love to get together with Fabbers while I am there for shopping, a meal, coffee, whatever.
Anyway, I have not bought my plane tickets yet but the general plan is that I will be arriving most likely on Tuesday July 15th (hopefully on a morning flight), and leaving on July 20 on a redeye flight. My meeting does not start until evening of July 17th so I will be free until then. I'll most likely stay in a hotel downtown before the meeting, and then during the meeting I will be staying in conference housing (on campus housing at the University of Washington).
So, I will definitely be free all day Wednesday, July 16th, as well as the morning and early afternoon of July 17th. I realize that people will have llimited availability on weekdays though! The other option would be Saturday, July 19th. This is technically a meeting day but the talks that I am interested in don't start until 4pm on that day, so I could potentially skip out for the morning and early afternoon.
Some other things:
--Do you think downtown is the best place to stay, keeping in mind that I will have no car and would prefer walking places if at all possible? Any hotel recommendations?
--Angie, I have a sneaking suspicion that these dates are during NAS, so I totally understand if you are swamped!
--Any must see/do/shop/eat places in Seattle? I am definitely going to go to the big Nordstrom!
--How easy is it to get from the University area to the rest of the city and how long does it take? If we do a meetup on Saturday the 19th I will have to get there from the University and then get back in the afternoon in time for meeting stuff.
