Seattle Dec. meetup - planning ahead

At the last YLF meetup in Everett several of us tossed around the idea of another meetup in December, Seattle-side, before the holidays. I meant to get this out here earlier, and I'm sorry for the delay, but wanted to see how many of you would be around and interested in getting together. I always have such a blast!

I'm totally out of town the first weekend of the month (Dec. 3-4) but I'd be happy to help organize something around the weekends of the 10th-11th or maybe the 17th-18th. (I suspect the 10th-11th would probably be easier since it's farther from Christmas.)

Seattle ladies, what do you think? (We can start brainstorming where we would like to meet, too - based on previous meetups it seems like downtown Seattle locations are pretty centrally located for most of us.)

I'm interested and hope to be able to make it this time! Though I have to admit that the idea of hanging out with that many VERY fashionable ladies is pretty intimidating.

Brenda, it would be a pleasure to meet you in person. I can tell you that every gathering I've been to has totally lifted my spirits - at first I stressed over what to wear to meet forum members in person, but the women I've met through YLF have been so friendly, warm, and non-judgmental that I started thinking of the meetups simply as an opportunity to get together with friends who happen to share a common interest, and who won't think I'm silly for being into personal style/fashion. I hope you can make it.

I forgot to say that downtown Seattle is a good spot for me. I'm 1 hour from the ferry and could walk up to the meeting spot.

The 17th/18th would be lovely for me. That is the start of my winter holiday! I'll be down in Vancouver, WA the previous weekend. I had so much fun last time I'd hate to miss it!

Brenda, I was easily the biggest dork at the Everett gathering and all I can say is that all the ladies were down to earth, fun and amazingly welcoming. I consider myself lucky to have been there. You must go!

Well, I wouldn't complain about a meetup on the weekend of the 17th, personally. The 17th is actually my birthday and a meetup would be a lovely treat!

I don't know my December work schedule yet, but I do know that I shouldn't be on call either weekend. I am on call for Christmas. I'm not sure how much walking I can do though.

Okay, I hope it's not rude of me, but I'm going to make a judgment call based on the responses so far and pick the 10th.

It sounds like most of us can make it that day, and as much fun as it would be to actually have a Seattle meetup on my birthday, I suspect the 17th is just going to be crazy for many of us (including myself) as we're nearing the holidays.

There's also a remote possibility that I may need to work on the 17th, but I'm free on the 10th.

Our meetup strategy has usually been brunch somewhere near downtown around 11:00 AM - noon - does that sound okay? That way, those who are free could hang around and shop afterwards.

Do you have any suggestions for locations?

Also, PLEASE feel welcome to pass this thread on to others who are interested but may not see it. I'll try to send this out to some of my contacts who have attended previous meetups, too.

No, not rude--you're just making an executive decision--and a good one, I think. The 10th works for me. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with brunch places downtown. I'll ask around for recommendations, though.

One suggestion I have is the Portage Bay Cafe. It's in South Lake Union - not downtown - but not too far: http://www.portagebaycafe.com/...../MAP2.html

I had brunch there with some girlfriends this summer, and the food was AWESOME.

I vote for Portage Bay. I'm familiar with the Dragonfish Cafe but it seems more like a lunch/HH place.

Oh! I've never heard of Etta's, but the menu sounds great.

I can give them a call and see what their accomodations would be for large groups - 10-15ish maybe? Best to plan for more to be safe...

I'm in for the 10th! Definitely for brunch, maybe for shopping. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and maybe meet new YLFers too!

I like Portage Bay Cafe a lot. Wondering, though, whether it might be most convenient to meet right in downtown, to be in easy walking distance from the shops. I like Anna's suggestion of Etta's, or there is Cafe Campagne (http://www.campagnerestaurant.com/CafeBrunch.pdf) - I haven't been for brunch but have been happy with dinner there. Just a couple suggestions - both are in walking distance to Nordstrom/Macy/Pacific Place, Nordtrom Rack, etc.

I'm in on the 10th! Wooohooo!

I am going to vote against the Portage Cafe, although it's really nice. I think that we should stay downtown. Parking will be *a mare* - and we need to find spots early in the morning. Plus, downtown is stunning with all the lights and decorations at that time of year.

I know nothing about any of those restaurants though they all sound yummy, but I'm another vote for staying downtown. I really don't want to have to bring a car over the ferry and drive in downtown Seattle. Walking, I can do.
