I could not resist experimenting with some of my more questionable decisions, while using my sprouting mushroom as accessory (and distraction).

Top - not my color or shape but very cheap at the end of last year's Zara winter sale
Pants - Part of a ridiculous thrift haul of High by Claire Campbell clothing that I still haven't decided what to do with
Boots - Fabio Rusconi bought second hand but new a couple of years ago (are they toffee?) These I will keep - I like them under flares especially.

Styling and/or k/r and/or any other advice or comments welcome.

I don't think I have ever seen you in this shade of brown, but do you know, I like it? It may be that the white does the trick. You both look amazing.

You always kill me with your metaphoras, Shevia! Best interpretation ever(if not counting the Picasso one you did with DD as well:-)). You are both so adorable I want to hug you! That white little Princess steals the show of course, but your vest is also gorgeous!

Yes!! So fab! You and your sprouting mushroom look amazing. I really love the folded shape on the front of your top and the pointy toffee boots are TDF.. Lovely warm Autumnal tones which I adore.

That's one killer mushroom sprouting in your garden.

Ok, I find the cut of the top really weird, I would try a V neck underneath rather than crew neck.
The pants look sporty and thin, I would imagine them rolled up with Summer shoes for casual day, they look too flimsy for pairing with boots.

Love the boots. High shaft, pointy : they might even be current - for all I know.

Suz I have a feeling these boots are going to be winter workhorses - high shaft and all. I do think the white helps this color, which is far from a natural on me.
Joy, indeed that is the upside of a bulging and churning closet - I am often well prepared for the unexpected challenge :-).
Lyn and Diane - I think the vest is very interesting too - not ideal for me, but interesting nonetheless.
Skylurker - you made me laugh, thank you! Yes the styling and pieces here are experimental at best, and truly the only thing that is definitely staying are the boots. They might even be current for all I know too :-)!

Have we seen you in brown Jaime? It makes your hair stand out something fierce I rather like the top, and echo Skylurker's thought on trying with a v-neck underneath. Or perhaps over a silky blouse, to act sort of like a vest. It's an interesting piece. Not sure on the pants, but they also look really interesting. The boots are gorgeous, glad you're keeping those.

(And how cute is your daughter! She nailed the challenge just like mum.)

My favorite interpretation so far! Your daughter is fantastically stylish in her dress and chunky boots. And you! You look a little Han Solo meets Obi-wan in your brown outfit. I mean that in the most adventurous, swashbuckling, space-pirate way.
