Irina, those earrings are super fab!!!! would you mind telling me where did you buy from? I've been eyeing a similar pair since last summer but I am not sure if they are the right pair. I think a silver bracelet in a Scandinavian minimalistic look could be a great signature piece for you, something like this bracelet from Georg Jensen.

My signature accessories have been the same for quite sometime: pearl stud earrings, same watch for almost 20 years, structured handbags and few scarfs. I have been looking for alternatives but I always chicken out!

Minaminu, I now buy my jewelry from Mejury. I like their style and prices seem fair.

Thanks for suggesting a bracelet. I don’t often wear one, most of the time I don’t like how it looks on me, my wrists are very narrow.

thank you for the tipp Irina! Will definitely look it up!!!

I have been thinking about this - and how some people might have a signature outfit but swap out the accessories, and some people have signature accessories and swap the outfits around.

I think accessories become signature when you wear them (almost) all the time and I also like Zaeobi's comment re the caricature. I think lipstick and hair can be an accessory too.

I think we can decide to make something signature or sometimes it happens by default. One of my friends always wears lipstick (usually bright) even when mountain biking.

Sal, I was thinking about signature hair styles like yours or Jaime’s.

I also have a friend who almost always wears a red lipstick. Both are signature, imo. Something must distinctive and displayed consistently to became a signature.
I have to wear a prescription glasses and mine are transitional. Somehow my favorite sunglasses (aviators) don’t look great with clear lenses. I would love to find signature glasses.

Those are great earrings, Irina. I've seen ads for this line , and these earrings in particular ,on my social media feeds but have never checked them out. How is the weight? I am particularly sensitive to the weight of an earring ...don't want them dragging down the piercing or the earlobe.

I've decided to make a project out of organizing my jewellery on the weekend - and creating a small capsule for everyday . And likely packing the rest of it away - haha. I have too much .

Irina, come join me on Team Pearls and Team Bags

Soooo many fabulous examples of signature accessories! LOVED reading this thread......have to run! Back later.

LaPed, I'll see if I can find her contact info for you. I believe she does or at least has in the past sold online. Because we are frequent Icelandic visitors, I usually just buy in person from a shop in Reykjavik that sells her jewelry.

My signature accessories have been the same for YEARS, and I wear them daily.

Bright eyewear, real white pearls (bracelets, necklaces, pendant, rings), structured bright or white Furla handbags. And NO earrings is signature too.

Footwear is not an accessory, btw!

LJP, I don’t know the weight, yet, just ordered them. I bought other, maybe bigger and didn’t have any issues with weight.

I bought a silver pair online and the delivery was fast. The last one is gold, was a gift from DH and bought from a store but I lost one earring. Want to make the second into a pendant and buy the same pair myself.

Silver ones are so pretty too !

Wow, Wow, wow, love the silver+pearl earings above for You Irina, the gold with 3 pearls also fab-hope they will not be very weighty! I'm so jelous-I never could wear anything dangly or bigger than studs in my ears for a reason-not only because of the weight-- perhaps it is just not me having someting mobile (out of my control??:-)) on my head/body. I love my pearl studs but sometimes feel intrigued even about them, too. Their 3D regular-ball shape and that they can stand out too much on my smallish ears (my hair is short and ears are cut open). They can compete even with my specs or...don't always match my overall style anymore (other than in winter when have chunky clothes and several layers on). Think I now understand why Angie does not wear earings at all. Please forgive my ramblings-I just had some revelations, due to your topic....:-).

Ooh those pearl earrings are so pretty!

I used to wear scarves almost every day, I used the colors in them to pull my outfits together. For some reason they just feel fussy to me now and I don't ever wear them - weird how tastes change.

I do wear some very small jewelry every day. Most of it I don't take off even when sleeping and showering. I wear my wedding ring, a ring that was my sister's (who has passed away, I love wearing this and would be devastated if I ever lost it), a thin silver and gold necklace and small earrings. I have 5 ear piercings so keeping earrings small feels less overwhelming on me. I also wear a watch every day. I always have. For a while they were more like bracelets with beaded bands and those were fun but now I just have a small one that is silver and gold. So maybe combining metals is part of my signature?

Interesting topic and fun to think about!

Ooh it's interesting to see how personal these accessories are to each person! E.g.

@Minaminu
I'm sure your bangle looks great on you, but I've realised that I barely ever wear my bracelets - at least not since WFH since 2019, when jewellery clacking against my keyboard would drive me batty lol!

@lyn67
I'm the opposite! I can't remember the last time I wore my tiny studs - they just get lost in my hair (though it's not as thick as it used to be, lol)!

@RobinF
I'm the same re: scarves - I wonder whether face masks & the pandemic had something to do with it? Though I do still wear my silk scarves, I now knot them at the ends (like an infinity scarf) & usually layer a necklace on top (to keep them in place). They feel too fussy when worn without those tweaks now...

I wasn't wearing my scarves even before that. It is the fussiness I think, just not into it any more. Smaller jewelry too. I'm sure I will warm up to them again some year

For years it was a certain watch, then several thin silver bracelets worn stacked, then mixing thin silver bracelets with solid color thin bangles. Right now I’d say wearing jewelry-earrings, necklace, bracelets all at once, maybe with a ring thrown in, is my signature, but no specific pieces.

Thanks to all who shared your signature accessories and your experience with it. Fun read for sure.

I wish I could wear bracelets but bangles slide down my wrists and I never sure about the styles. I used to wear a watch but it’s a dilemma, too. While I like chunky designs, my DH insists I should wear delicate watches and jewelry.

@RobinF
Fair enough - scarves have been a lifelong requirement for me, so they stuck around

@Irina
Is there any way you could shorten your watches/ bangles (take out a link)? Or if you like the chunky styles, maybe a cuff would better suit you? Some watches have a sliding clasp on metal arms (I find those stay in place better & comfier than buckle closures).

Zaeobi, cuff bracelet do not stay on my wrists at all. Not only my wrists are narrow, my arms are slim, too. With the watches, it’s more about the size of the face. chunky watches might look too heavy or so I’ve been told.

Zaeobi yes, bangles on the keyboards are quite annoying and can also understand Irina's comment on wrist size! Thankfully bangles can be bought based on the wrist size

Big thanks to Irina for mentioning Mejuri, just placed an order for a pair of earrings

Minaminu, hope you like your earrings. Mine are shipped, can’t wait!

I have more on my wish list

Irina I also have very small wrists and hands -- most bangles simply slide off altogether. I've had luck building a small collection of vintage bangles sourced from Etsy, sometimes they are called "maiden" bracelets as I think they were marketed for teens/young women. I've found one or two sellers who make bracelets in smaller sizes too.

I don't wear bracelets a lot -- mainly in summer on non-working days when they will interfere with neither sleeves nor computer. So I keep the collection small. But they have a high happiness factor when I do wear them (perhaps because they were so hard-won!)

This has been a fascinating thread! I have been trying to think of what my signature accessories are. I can think of items I've worn a lot for a period of time or am wearing a lot now, but I don't think any really represent signatures.

(I was thinking maybe my stompy ankle boots, which I've worn almost constantly this winter. Most of you would probably think of my cognac riding boots as a signature, but I haven't worn them in months. I'm not sure why.)

Mine is a collection of gold pieces made by a local jeweler that were gifts from my husband. I have earrings dating back to the early 90s, and he made me a custom wedding ring. Clean modern looking pieces. He retired and after several years we finally found a new local jeweler we like; his pieces are a bit more swoopy, but still modern and he has an amazing eye for stones. It’s fun to support a local small business.

@irina Ah, my bad - I have the opposite problem with cuffs (I can never even get them on because the opening is too narrow for my wide wrists, hands & forearms) so I thought it'd be the other way around for narrow arms. Now I'm wondering who cuffs *are* designed to fit (if anyone), lol??

@minaminu Lol you've given me flashbacks to my childhood - desi 'churi' (glass bangles) are also sold by the wrist size, but people will deliberately buy them smaller than your hand circumference (I've never managed to get an answer why, but I suspect it's partially to make the wrist look 'dainty' but also to stop the 'slippage' Irina mentions). But the problem came from the lack of openings on the bangles + my huge hands = many shards Good thing they came in multiple matching sets then, to account for the inevitable breakages when trying to shove thin glass hoops past big fleshy hands, lol!

@cat2 Your jewelry sounds wonderful- would be lovely to see pictures, if you have them As 'signature' accessories, I imagine you'd have to have a very clear vision for your style (& possible future direction) though, before getting any custom made?

My signature accessories are jewellery. I wear my wedding rings every day. On my left hand, I wear a plain gold band, and occasionally I wear a ruby and diamond gold ring. On my right hand, I wear a yellow and rose gold ring with three intertwined bands. I have other rings, but I rarely wear them.
I wear gold earrings, either hoops or sapphire studs. I also wear gold or silver bangles. I love bangles. I finally found bangles that didn't slide off my wrists.
I often wear amber jewellery, which I love.
