I made do with my old too big wool coat last fall and winter, but I definitely want something new this year. My winter wardrobe is generally in fairly good shape, so I'm planning to put my money in a few more expensive things and only look for the odd inexpensive second hand item otherwise.
The wool peacoat I own is Lands End, rather worn out and way too big. I also have a puffer coat that's in mint condition, but I didn't need it at all last winter because the weather was so mild. When it's not truly cold (everything above slightly below freezing) I prefer wool layers to anything else.
Ideally I'm looking for a coat that's ethically made, good quality, warm and fits me and my style. I know that this is going to cost a bit, especially if I purchase from an ethical brand. I thought about going the second hand route, but to be honest there just aren't that many great offerings out there in stores and buying online seems quite risky.
The coat below is part of the autumn 2015 collection of an ethical clothes retailer. It's 100% pure new wool, lined in modal. It should end just over or at the knees on me. I'm wondering if I should try it. I know that it won't go on markdown until winter is nearly over though, so it has to be perfect for the price if I buy it now.
Thoughts? They have free shipping right now, so trying wouldn't cost anything.
Any ideas where to look for a truly good quality wool coat otherwise? Thanks.

I placed an order for a size 36 and 38. Keep your fingers crossed one of them fits!
