Found a old school picture going back about 20 years now of half of our year at the last few days of high school!
The good old school shirt and school tie! As you can see noone wore it smartly haha! My tie was always as loose as possible / about 3 buttons undone with an untucked shirt, pretty much everyone was!
I'm in the middle with the black hair, feels like a long time ago now!
It's funny because even to this day my daughter / her year all dress the same, skirts rolled up ties loosened etc, I just let her get on with it though to be honest lol!
I made this post as I thought it would be a fun topic and something a bit different!

No uniform, but little girls in my class all wore full-skirted dresses with long ties that had to be tied in a big bow in back. My bow refused to stay tied. My anklets could not stay up on skinny legs.

Welcome, Rebecca! Ah, school uniforms and fashion-conscious girls: a recipe for rebellion if ever there was one!

Our uniform was very formal and strict. We wore berets in winter and boaters in summer, and both had to be worn neatly on top of the head - no chance! All were pushed back as far as possible so as not to disturb our carefully back-combed hair.
We had to wear white gloves with our summer dresses, our blazers had to be buttoned, ties properly tied, skirts an appropriate length - the rules were endless, and we were all inspected at the gate before going home.
I was fairly compliant, but was constantly told to roll my sweater sleeves down - I loved to scrunch them even then: still do!

My high school uniform was pretty lenient in retrospect. We had to wear pleated green plaid skirts, but could wear any top as long as it was collared. We took great liberties with this - all kinds of clashing patterns and colors and even the "collar" part was pretty loose. It was the 80's, so there were big foldover collars, stand up collars, as well as the preppy Izod shirts. Most girls wore knee socks, but some wore panty hose. We could wear any type of shoe.

Elementary school uniforms were a lot more strict: Navy pleated plaid skirt, white peter pan collared shirt and an X style tie.

I had to wear navy blue skirts, turquoise sweaters and white shirts. I still like turquoise, but I can't bring myself to wear navy...school put me off it!

My skirts were just straight and to the knee, and sweaters a plain 'v' neck.

I went to parochial school but never had a uniform. But we had to wear skirts to school. And when I went to college, we could wear pants to class but had to wear a skirt to dinner. I would wear the same navy blue miniskirt and knee socks with whatever top or sweater I had worn that day to dinner. And the guys had to wear a tie and jacket. Some would wear a tie just knotted around their neck, with a tee shirt or sweatshirt!

Ahhh. Catholic school in the 70s. Took me a while to wear plaid again. Fun post!
