My son and his girlfriend live in Minneapolis. We have visited the Twin Cities several times since they moved there, and it always seemed like such a nice area. They sent these pictures yesterday.

My nephew lives a few blocks from where George Floyd was killed. He said most of the protests were very peaceful, thank goodness.

Stay safe American friends, the world is praying with you for healing from Covid and community unrest.

In my city, we had a peaceful city dusk march to acknowledge “Black Lives Matter” which is especially relevant with our Indigenous community who are over represented in our jails and deaths in custody. These issues are not isolated to the US, white privileged exists in my country too.

The city mural is a lovely tribute to George Floyd and the many unknown names that he represents.

Nodding with Bijou. Canada has a similarly horrible record with the Indigenous population in particular, but also with Black citizens and now, lately, racism against Asian Canadians is on the rise in the time of COVID.

I was born and raised in Minnesota, having just left three years ago. The racism is buried deeply under the “Minnesota Nice”, and Minneapolis has some of the worst socioeconomic, educational, and judicial racial disparities in the country.
The Minneapolis PD has had a reputation for brutality dating back decades. I was warned by my parents to avoid them at all costs, and this was in 1970.
Thanks for sharing the photo of the memorial for Mr. Floyd. It is such a sad time.

Thanks so much for these photos, JAileen. I hope that these protests do result in some real change. We finally seem to have reached a nationwide breaking point - but I’ve thought that before.

Thank you for sharing the photos, Jaileen. It's all so horrifying and for this to happen in the middle of a pandemic, I feel things will get much worse before they get better. But by gosh, things have to change. I am disgusted by our leadership

My world turned upside down when I watched the video of the police murdering Mr. Floyd. I feel sick and confused and scared. I agree that our leadership is sorely lacking at this time, and hope we can make the changes needed to get us on a better road. RIP, Mr. Floyd. I hope the world cracking open right now will let the light in.
