Scarf/Pashmina help

I purchased an inexpensive pashmina type scarf (20.00) and altho the color was beautiful, it wrinkled so badly it would have needed to be pressed each time I wore it. I have swooned over the partial cashmere pashminas at Nordstroms but they are almost 100.00 and that is just too much for me to spend. Have any of you found one one in the mid price range you have been happy with? The Love Quote scarves look wonderful but they are in the 85-90.00 price range too.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions you can offer.

I can't afford real pashminas either. I'm lucky enough because my mom always brings a few back whenever she goes to India, where they are insanely cheap and come in every color conceivable. She just left today and I requested a yellow and a turquoise one Anyway, this gave me a real perspective on what a ripoff they are here...so I refuse to pay retail for them.

Lately I've been obsessed with scarves for some reason, and I agree about the Nordstrom's ones. I have one and it is fabulous - so soft and easy to fold up. I am lusting after another one but the price is scary. I like that one that Maya posted. That seems like a great alternative.

I am going to admit to I got three different fake ones from the street vendors in NY ( 3 for $10) that are very similar to the one Maya posted and they have held up very well. So maybe look into something like that?

I agree with Tanya. I bought a very cheap one from ebay. It is soft, warm and doesn't wrinkle at all. I don't know what you mean by fake, though. Do pashminas have to be made of cashmere wool? Are they fake otherwise?

Pashmina refers specifically to the kind of cashmere that those scarves are made out of, so I consider any other material to be fake.

I have a confession to make, along the line of my "microchip pants."

I have a very, very fashionable friend, and I called her up last year and asked her what color "pashima" I should buy for a particular outfit. I went on and on about what brand "pashima" and where to buy a "pashima." She recommended the ones at Nordstrom's. Only later, when I was at the store, did I realize it was "pashmina!" I felt so stupid!

I was at Nordies for a bit on Thursday and I could almost swear that I saw some beautiful brightly colored ones on a table close to an aisle and they were marked $80. I wish now I had taken the time to actually look at them and buy one for my mom for her birthday. Check it out!

Thank you for all of your help and appreciate any addt'l ideas any of you have. I lucked out yesterday as the only boutique in our town had a 30% off sale and I discovered the Love Quote scarves. They are amazing and with the sale down to $65.00 which is about the mid price range (would love scarf with even lower price but as with everything else you get what you pay for) which is still 30.00 less than the Nordstrom one I will be returning. Do any of you own a Love Quote scarf? I think the thing I like best is they lay so nicely around your neck when worn; just a beautiful "pop: of color during this long winter. Again if you have more ideas to help out in my scarf quest. please post them

I have a pashmina that my sister gave me as a gift---many years ago. I have no idea if it's real pashmina or just a big square scarf. Unfortunately, it's a very boring beige color. I do wear it, but more as a shawl when I'm chilly, because it's not a fashionable color.
