Scarf for Winter Coat

Now that I have decided no other coat compares to my Nordstrom's find, I need a scarf for it. I have never bought a dressy winer scarf. Practical yes, but this coat demands pretty too. Would this work ?

i could see both the camel and white colors working. But OMG the real reason I had to log back is was to say THAT COAT! AMAZING!

That's such a beautiful coat, Thistle. What about a cashmere print? Here's a page from Nordstrom and some of the prices are pretty crazy, but this may give you some other ideas, too:

I like the winter white, but I think this coat is begging for a print...

That said, no reason to limit yourself to just one. There are lots of pretty and inexpensive pashmina-style scarves out there.

We are kind of spoiled in the US. I never knew that until hearing the ladies here.

Even though nothing is close to me, almost everyone ships for free. If you have their credit card, most places have free returns too.

Your coat is long, so it will cover whatever you are wearing underneath. You can buy any of these scarves and they will be a pairing with your coat without interference from what you are wearing underneath. No need to be neutral! Also, the scarf should be in a color that lights up your face. Don't go neutral just to be... neutral. I particularly like the florals because they can boost the coat into the spring season. And next fall you have a reason to buy a new one in a fall color...

I have several of these that I've collected over the last ten years. They are really amazing. They are incredibly soft and light and clearly they wear really well.

I agree a printed scarf would be great with the coat, but if you want a plain one too (note the enabling...) pick a colour that you love - turquoise would be my choice, or a warm bright pink, or violet, or citron. Something that will really bring out the colour of the coat.
I must say you have really pulled your wardrobe together in short order - I'm so impressed!

You had me at "fit and flare". What a gorgeous coat!

I also concur with the call for a printed scarf; it'll really "pop" against your coat, and prints are trending :). What kind of print tugs at your heartstrings? Something romantic? Geometric/graphic?

If you're print-shy, maybe something with a bit more texture would be an acceptable compromise? This scarf in a ivory or taupe could be lovely (the styling of the ombre version gives a better feel for its texture).

Why in the world would you limit yourself to one scarf.?
Get 5. Buy one from some guy at a kiosk in the mall.
Get one that is lime green or persimmon or a animal or stripe or floral.

I tend to agree with moira... the coat was your investment piece, now you can have fun with different scarves at different price points, styles and formality levels (ie/ cashmere look vs chunky knit). If you find you really love the look of something in particular with the coat then you can invest in a nice version, if you want to. Lightweight scarves will also work as accessories indoors so they are pretty versatile.
