This is so inventive and yes -- beautiful! I would never suspect you of fishing for compliments, but you definitely deserve them, both for your creativity and your amazing (and constantly evolving) personal style!

I would love to figure something like this out. I expect it takes exactly the right pieces to make it work. The knitted scarves would cling to the underskirt more than slip (as silk would) which would help a lot. Were your underskirts knitted also, or not? I could maybe try something like this with my new Zara skirt! But I don't have a knitted scarf in the right shape or size.

I love both combinations!

Well, this seems the perfect way to find a skirt that drapes in exactly the most flattering way for you!

UmmLila, exactly! And for only $12. Thank you.

Suz, thank you. The underskirt with the teal skirt is tweed. The underskirt with the red skirt is lace. The scarf is viscose. It might have some poly. The same sort of weight as the ubiquitous pashmina. I don’t think it would work with a silk scarf. Too light and the pins might damage it. It needs to be fabric that looks like it could be made into a skirt, if that makes sense. My mum actually thought the scarf was a skirt, until I showed her. It was perfection. The teal skirt I have been waiting for. I’m going to hit the thrift shops to look for a dark floral scarf now.

Joy, thanks. A tube skirt will give a different look. Not as flared. Leopard would be great! And there is definitely a lot of potential for pattern mixing between the scarf and the underskirt. I’ve been thinking about that too.

Bonnie and Staysfit, thank you.

Janet, thanks for the empathy. It can be hard putting yourself out there. But also stimulating to exchange ideas and approaches.

Bijou, thank you. You are right, it’s a good travel option. And of course, you can still use the scarf as a scarf! The catch ups with my mum are great. I’m very happy that I work part time now and can enjoy this time with her.

Suntiger, thanks! My ideas don’t always work out for me either

What a gorgeous silhouette on you and of course the colors are sublime! You are so inventive!

This is so cute, and I am definitely stealing this idea! I’m excited at the idea of alternate uses for some scarves that I love, that don’t see as much wear.

I'm going to try this with one of my "deep water swim tights" beneath. Legging-esque swimsuit pants, less bulky than a second skirt.

I am not inventive with my items, very much admiring you for seeing accessories with fresh eyes!

These are wonderful outfits. I love and admire your creativity. It is very kind and generous of you to share, Brooklyn! So appreciate it.

Thanks Katerina.

Thanks April. I also pinned my scarf to the waistband of my underskirt, so that it was securely anchored and to take the pressure off the point where I joined the scarf together. You might want to do the same with your pants.

Thanks Mary Beth. Maybe don’t try it with your favourite scarf first! For me the pins left little holes, but they were easily massaged away. You could also try to pin using the selvage of the scarf, which is stronger, or double over the scarf for extra strength. I had to play around with it a while to get the shape I wanted.

And thanks Jaime and Rachy.
