Good question! I'm a decisive person and know what I like and dislike. Also, I'm rather reluctant to try a new style or silhouette. I don't always make good decisions, though, and I am having enormous difficulty coming up with descriptors for my style choices. For these reasons, I'd rate my knowledge a 7 or 8. I'm still experimenting somewhat and don't know how my style will evolve.

Great question. I would say that, in terms of understanding what I like on myself, what I think is flattering, and the kinds of looks that make me feel elegant, then an 8. Because I do have a clear sense of all this.

However, am I able to translate this into an efficient wardrobe and into outfits that consistently make me feel fab whether in the everyday or for special events? NO! For reasons too long to list here.

I am not sure if this would be a different, though related, question.

This is a super interesting question. It involves so many things - size, shape, fit, color, acceptance of trends (or not), goals. And is there a difference between your understanding of your personal style and your happiness with it? I would love to hear everyone's reasons for their number.

I'd probably give myself a 7/8. I have a pretty good idea of what shapes, cuts and colors I like and will work on me without too much effort. But, there are still things I want to incorporate that I haven't and things I want to tweak but haven't quite figuted out how yet.

I think I'm fairly low on the scale when it comes to being able to describe my style with words. Instead I savor the fun descriptors that Angie's given me. For example, she's anointed me "Farm Fashionista" and I love that. She also called my style "Urban Pacific" which I think is accurate. And another forum member once described it as "California Cool" which is so flattering! If you stick around AM and you post pictures of your outfits so we get to know you better, you will see. We won't be able to resist giving your style fun names!
I do think sometimes others see us more clearly than we even see ourselves.

How I see myself -- I'm casual with a yen for trying new trends (although struggling to find love in my heart for the 70s revival this time, because I think I've re-lived that style a few times already in all my years!!!)

Am I happy with my style? I am when I get to dress up more, rather than staying at home watching Downton Abbey, or walking the dogs. My life is not that exciting, so I don't have the need for exciting clothes.

Agreeing with Cocolion. Angie throws out great monikers, as do others.

As for myself, I'm learning but getting smarter with shopping. So if that means I'm making better choices then I'm at about a 7.... Maybe? 7.5? Feeling better about choices all the time but still make lots of mistakes

I barely understand style, let alone my style, lol. Honestly, I have learned quite a bit since joining YLF, but there's a difference between what I've learned and what I've put into practice. I'm working on both. I'd say I'm smack in the middle at about a 5.

With huge thanks to Angie & YL Fabbers I feel I hover around 9 now. I'm REALLY happy with my style on a daily basis now that I've let go of needing to try lots of different looks.

There are two reasons I don't make it to 10; one is that I have trouble finding some of the clothing I need to pull my looks together -I live in a town with limited shopping for the kinds of clothes I like & our summers can seem to go on forever with 100++ temps. so I don't get to wear my favourite - pants jackets/coats & footwear for a quarter of the year.

I think I'm a 5/6. I am fairly consistent in what I choose, but I cannot say I always understand why I make those choices.

If you'd asked me three days ago, I would have said a 2 -- I thought I knew what I liked, but didn't have the words to express it nor the skills to make what I liked work in my life.

I spent the last 2 days working through the 14-week "course" on Wardrobe Architect, and so I'd now say I'm a 5. I have a very clear idea of what I like, what works when in my life, what my style goals are, and how to proceed going forward. Where I fall short is in the actuality. I'm not too clear on what really looks good on me, and if I can take my style from theoretical to reality.

I understand my personal style very well. Probably an 8. I can always improve. Like CocoLion I live very casually and don't dress up much. The days when I wore my personal style are gone so it is a fun exercise for me to read about fashion now. Big sigh.

I think that I find the term "personal style" somewhat intimidating. I very much know what I like- and even more what I don't like- to wear. But does that translate to personal style?

Great question - I will give myself a 5 - because I know what looks good on me when it comes to silhouettes - yet I have no style descriptor words and could not explain overall aesthetic.

If it means knowing what I like to wear, I'm at a 10. If it means knowing how to describe it to another person, I'm probably a 4. If it means consistently sporting a certain look, I'd say a 5 or 6. Looking at that, I'd say I'm a 6.5. Which, given I'm 65, seems eerily right.

There are only two rules here:

1. Have fun with fashion.

2. Wear the heck out of your beautiful clothes!

I would put myself on a 7. Meaning I know (pretty much) what suits me, I know what works for my lifestyle, and I have a highly functional closet of clothes that give me great satisfaction. I even have one of those fun monikers, thanks to Angie: Urban Prince. And I like it! But I still want to make some refinements to my style and I'm not entirely sure how to do that.

I'm maybe a 5. I am not sure I understand my style very well. I have a way of dressing, and it seems kind of consistent, but who knows if it's really my style.

I was thinking that I was about a 7--I have gotten a pretty good handle on which styles I like, and how much of each style should be in my wardrobe (I am a bit eclectic), but I feel a style shift coming on, and so I'm feeling more like a 5 these days. Not sure where I'm headed.

I'd say around about 6/7. I know what I like, I think I know what suits me and I genuinely love the contents of my closet.

It's all complicated by a diversity of aesthetics, personae, preferences and implementations. In other words, I like a lot of things but I need to resist the temptation to wear them all at once.

So no, I don't fully understand my style. But isn't all the fun in the finding out?

Great question -- I am about a 7.5 - 8. I love visually interesting pieces but I know the range of styles that appeal to me most and that's where I live. It took a LOT of focus and energy but I am happy with knowing the difference between what I think is cute for me and what I think is cute and general.

Let's see....I love my closet, can pull together appropriate outfits for any occasion that make me feel fab, know what colors, patterns, contrasts, silhouettes and types of items make me happy, know what is figure flattering (although I don't always care), wear all of my wardrobe, and am able to combine things in lots of different ways as well as utilize several FFBOs. I try trends that appeal to me but don't jump on every new thing that comes out. From that, I'd give myself at least an 8. I'd like to be able to sum up my style with a cute moniker, but I haven't been able to do that yet. I can describe it in a few words or sentences, but that's not as fun.

In knowing what is my style, I'm an 8. I'm usually good at recognizing it, but I do get pleasantly surprised once in a while. My trouble came, at least until recently, with knowing what I don't like. Especially when it comes in a good color for me and fits really well.
