Saving my pennies for boots - YouLookFab Forum

There's a void in my boot wardrobe: a pair of dressy, skirt-worthy boots. Am I right in thinking boots have to have some sort of heel to look good with dresses and skirts (bearing in mind that I am short)?

I am IN LOVE with these but I don't know where to buy them! Not even Zappos had them and Googling returned nothing. The similar Tahra style would definitely be too big for me in the calf, so I don't have high hopes, but it would be worth it just to try them on and make sure.

Anyway, the point of this post is that if you happen to see any tall boots with a heel height of around 1.5"-1.75" and a round toe, please let me know! They can be slightly below knee-high since I'm short, and do bear in mind my extremely picky feet. I'm saving now so I can get them around November. I might even just ask for them for Christmas. So there's plenty of time for you guys to look for me :p I'm not going to be particular about color or details. I love brown but black will definitely accommodate more of my wardrobe, and little details like buttons or cuffs would be really awesome...but as I said, these are just bonuses.

Zappos used to have more of a selection of LC boots. There was one pair I had my eye on:

A lot of shoes seem to have mysteriously disappeared from Zappos. They have really gone downhill lately Their customer service is still great, but I find myself ordering shoes from other sites a lot more these days.

Ana, I really like the Tahra but they're just too big for my chicken calves. I saw the tailor too and loved them, and I also remember seeing them on Zappos. I wonder what's going on. I guess even they are suffering some backlash from slow sales. I have the ankle boot version of the Tahra and they are super comfy.

I haven't seen the new season of La Canadienne anywhere yet, so maybe they just haven't come out? There may not be the same boots as last season but I bet there will be some good new ones.

Thanks Maya for showing us the website. La Canadiene certainly has a beautiful line up of boots and shoes for the season. I'm going to keep my eye on them.

I just noticed this little note on the front page:

Upcoming La Canadienne new styles:
- 20 new styles arriving in August 2008
- 42 new styles arriving in September 2008
- 31 new styles arriving in October 2008

That's a lot of new stuff! So I'm hoping the Trixxie and Tailor will be among those new styles. I'll let you guys know if I see them. It's never too early to start your Christmas list

I have had my eyes on the Tahra. I'm afraid that I'll need two pair if I plan on wearing boots over jeans as well.

Sarah, I was planning on buying the Tahras in black and brown (eventually, hee hee) to wear over jeans, since I wear pants most often, and then buying the Tailors in crinkle black patent to wear with skirts and dresses. I think the LCs will be perfect for Austin's very rainy winters.

Ooh Tanya those are great. I'm a big fan of that 12" calf! I need the calves as small as humanly possible if I'm going to wear them with skirts, since I don't have the added bulk from my jeans.

Nicole, those are the ones Ana and I were talking about. The black crinkle patent is pretty spectacular and I love the mary jane illusion.
