It’s official! The date has been set for our YLF clothing and accessories swap meet, which will take place on Saturday, July 14, from 12-2 p.m., at my home in Newport Beach.
In the special glow of Antje’s recent Seattle YLF swap, let’s take a moment to gather our own “closet orphans,” clean out a few things and set aside items (which I’ve started staging as I think Rae may have done) and get ready for our Southern California day together.
This will be my first clothing swap and I decided, “why not just jump in and host it,” so I look forward to socializing and seeing YLF regulars and newcomers. As Angie and Antje have eloquently shared in their blogs, this is a fantastic way to acquire a few missing wardrobe pieces, say goodbye to the closet orphans and help others find a few treasures for themselves. Please feel free to invite a friend and share the following with them.
Briefly, here are some general guidelines:
1. Please bring at least five to 10 clothing items to swap (a few more, if you like).
2. You may bring an unlimited amount of accessories, jewelry, purses, shoes and scarves.
3. All items must be clean and in good condition (and, if possible, hung on your own hangers).
4. Anything that is left over at the end of the swap will be donated to a local charity (unless you prefer to take it back home with you).
5. In your RSVP, please provide your real name, in addition to your forum name, as well as your email address and your friend’s name and email.
Please remember that this is not an actual “swap,” so it’s possible that you could bring a different number of items than you take home. It's an easygoing day of swapping clothing items with no guarantees.
We’ll have some snacks and light refreshments, so if you’d like to bring something (finger food and small bites are best), please let me know. If you’re interested in attending, please pm me with your RSVP, as I’d like to keep the list of attendees to a reasonable number. Feel free to invite a friend and pm their name and email. I’ll send a reminder and location details and directions to those who RSVP in a follow-up email.
