Sarah’s recent shopping trips

I’ve been busy lately and haven’t been on YLF much, but I’m trying to catch up now. First of all I wanted to let you ladies know about my recent shopping trips. I’ll try to make this as brief as possible, but you know me. A week ago I went back to the big Oak Park mall. I didn’t make it to nearly all of the stores, but I covered one floor and part the second, and didn’t need to shop anymore because I had spent plenty already.

Express had camis for $12.50 a piece, so I got one in white (to replace one of mine that is falling apart) and one in pale pink. I was thrilled with the price, until my sister announced that she got some from Charlotte Russe for only $5 a piece. Mine are probably better quality though. They are certainly softer and more comfortable than the two camis I have from Charlotte Russe. At The Limited I found two tops that tie at the waist. Those were one of the things I really wanted to find, so I’m thrilled with them. One is a small blue and white geometric print and the other is a black and white abstract floral. I also ordered the Sweat Pea top that Tanya gave me the link to, and bought a white knee length skirt from Gap.

On Memorial Day I went shopping with my mom. She took me to a wonderful consignment store called the Wear House and More. I tired on tons of jeans in sizes 0-2. Most of them fit in the legs, but I couldn’t zip them up and others were huge everywhere. Some that fit looked too teenybopper. Finally I found a medium wash casual pare that fit and looked fine. I’m still on the lookout for a dark wash pair of jeans, but I couldn’t pass these up for $12.99. I also got 3 necklaces and 5 pairs of earrings. The grad total was only $35.84, so I was happy with my bargains.

My final shopping trip was last night. I looked for a dark wash denim skirt with no luck, but came home with a beautiful pair of red patent leather heels.

If I were just shopping on my usual clothing budget I would have way overspent this month. But I had $300 from a tax refund put away for clothes and I dipped into that quite a bit. Thank you all for the encouragement. Pictures are coming soon.

Can't wait to see the photos, Sarah! I think you are going to be the winner of the "greatest transformation" here. You have such a cute shape, and all your clothes were so big, you were just hidden under all that fabric.

I can guarantee that your Express camis are better than the Charlotte Russe ones--definitely worth the extra $7.00. All my bra camis are from Express (they generally have the best color selection of anywhere every season). You don't have to do this, but I've found that my Express bra camis last forever if I wash them on cold and let them air dry. The elastic doesn't break down or get frayed and they don't fade. I've had some for years and they still look like new.

I also really like the Express camis, but I don't wear them myself because I hate the way built in bras feel (I have to wear them over a regular bra). They also make my boobs look squashed. I'm sure they're better than CR though.

I really want to see the shoes and the tops you got! Jeans too.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Nicole, you made me smile with your "greatest transformation" comment. It will be fun to see if anyone at school notices this fall (my last semester). You've definitely made a great transformation yourself and disserve all the complements you’ve gotten. I'd give you second place after me, but then you didn't start out in clothes two or three sizes too big for you like I did. You do look wonderful with all of your new YLF encouraged purchases.

I took one picture yesterday and plan to post it today. I wore my black pencil skirt (from a previous shopping trip) with a white top and my new red heels. I'll take more pictures ASAP.

Anna, Tanya and Maya, it's good to hear that the Express camis were a good purchase. I've heard them mentioned on here several times. I wish I could have bought one in light blue and yellow as well, but there were many other things on my shopping list. I'll definitely be getting more in the future though. I did wash them on cold the first time Anna. I'll have to let them air dry in the future to help them last. Thanks for the tip. Maya, I'm not fond of shelf bras, so I may cut them out like Tanya does. They seem to take an inch off my chest, and I'm small enough without that. However, I’m just chesty enough that I wouldn’t dream of wearing just the cami with a shelf bra and no real bra underneath.

Inge, the haircut is coming up this Wednesday. I'll let you know more after that and of course post pictures.
