Every year we participate in the Santa Shoe Box project - we decorate a shoe box and fill it with all sorts of goodies. The boxes are then distributed at parties to kids in orphanages. The first year, we did one box, the next year we did two and this year we did four boxes - one from each member of my family. My kids each chose a child of their own age and I chose a baby and DH chose a teenage boy.
I decided to put a little extra effort into my baby's box and made a textured fabric lid.
Handing over the boxes almost feels like the official start of the Christmas season.
