What is your favorite pair of sandals for travel that includes a lot of walking? Arch support a plus.

Headed on a two week vacation and realized the gaping hole in my wardrobe. All my sandals are too dainty.

I've worn the 1st pair all summer and love them. Very comfortable. So I bought the 2nd pair to take on a recent vacation. They were a total no go---the Velcro would not stay closed!

Ecco.
I bought a pair at The Rack right before I went to Cuba. Didn't get a chance to break them in before I went. Normally I don't recommend that at all, but I was fine.
They have a variety of styles from dressier to sporty

another fan of ecco and birkenstock &Taos. wore them all summer in europe. I prefer an ankle strap to keep my feet where they belong.

I'm not sure about the arch support, because that's not something I look at, but I've worn these Pilkros a LOT over the past month. They were comfortable right out of the box.Note: I called the find "city sandals" because they nearly have a closed toe; that is not their name at the store.

Personally, I am able to walk long distances in hot weather in Birkenstock style sandals.

I live in these silver sandals and they walked for miles in France. Tempted to buy a second pair in case they are discontinued. The wedge sandal is surprisingly comfortable but not for long walks (rather for short walks, shopping, going out to dinner).

Following this thread as I have a similar "quest" going on.

For those who like Birkenstocks: do they not fall off your feet when you are walking, esp. if you are, say, going up and down stairs or maybe running to catch a bus or something of the sort? I've been recently tempted to try them but like rebekahphoto above I prefer ankle straps for security, and most Birkenstocks don't seem to have them (still browsing to find a model similar to the ones rebekah posted).

PS. I will reply to my own question above (lol) as I now have browsed through the full Zappos selection of Birkenstocks and selected all of those with ankle straps that also look comfy to walk miles on (again, no personal experience with them, just a similar interest). There were also a couple of taller wedges with straps but I kept them out as the higher heel doesn't seem so great for walking all day.

Just put an enormous order in at Zappos so we will see what comes of it.

Fashintern -- I ordered the same Pikolinos sandal as you picture (but in a different colorway). Super cute and I like the idea of a little more toe coverage while walking in the cities.

I also ordered 4 different styles of Naot sandals.

I looked for an Ecco sandal, but none caught my eye. Too bad as I love my Ecco sneakers.

I love the look of the Birkenstocks, but (generally speaking) not on my feet. I have a middle toe that is longer than my first toe, and it just always looks weird to my eye when the shoes are made to accommodate a longer first toe.

Anyone else have trouble with the thong type sandals?
