Sandal situation eta order has arrived

Summer is a-coming up and my everyday sandal situation is dire.

I have one 4 year old pair of slides that are very worn out - to the point where the shoe bed is ground down into the sole.

I have silver Sam Edelman Trinas which are lovely but
1. Have just broken - hopefully I can get them fixed again
2. The silver is cracking quite a bit already

I can still wear closed shoes but in a month or so I will NEED sandals.

But, I hate shopping on Saturdays or Sundays, go to the gym in all my lunchbreaks and looking at my calendar, I don't think I can manage a shopping day until Thursday week.

I am worried there won't be anything left in my size (6) and maybe isn't already.
I have had pretty bad experiences with online shoe ordering so am determined to go Brick and mortar.

Australians, have you seen any reasonably priced (I'd love less than $50) slide type shoes out there? My main criteria is that I like a bit of a heel - around 1 inch/ 1.5 cm.

I'm also looking for chunky low heeled (2 inch) sandals (wedges and platform would also be fine) with a strap so they'll stay on that I could wear for work.

Would love to hear your recommendations as I have looked online at several shops and not seen anything much.

Do you have Number One Shoes? I think they are only NZ.

Anyway I would dedicate a couple of hours to the task of finding the two pairs of shoes, maybe first thing on a Saturday morning, or over a couple of lunch hours. Your feet are worth it!

I know you don't want to shop on line but would it make a difference if it was local. I shop for shoes on line and have never had any issues with returns or exchanges. I choose my on line stores carefully. Styletread are very good:)

Ooh. Deb's given you some great options. And I am with her -- LOCAL online ordering with free returns (if you can find this) makes it totally worthwhile. At the very least you can rule things in and out and learn how various brands fit you (or don't). I have found a few online options here in Canada that work for me and I depend upon them because brick and mortar is just impossible where I live.

I haven't had a look yet this year, but last summer I bought 2 pairs of sandals form Spendless which I have been vey happy with. They were $40-50 and one pair in particular are very supporyive of my fussy feet.

Carolbee - thanks - there's a spendless shoe in my local mall so will try to checkthat out, also the Famous Footwear that Deb mentioned - But I had never heard of them! They don't do free return postage so Iike I'll look at the shop - they had some promising styles.

I hope they work out! I have had good experiences with styletread, and also with ordering from The Iconic. I also recently ordered shoes from Rivers online and returned to the local shop. Shoes are tricky for me at the best of times. I sort of count on retuning at least half the ones I order

Gorgeous sandals Anne. And thanks for pointing me to Styletread Deborah. I live in a rural area and don't get many opportunities to shop in store, so always great to find a good online option which has free deliveries and returns to NZ.

So glad to learn you've found some possibilities. I have more sandals than I need every summer -- mostly because I have a habit of destroying shoes. It can be so frustrating to lose a key pair mid-season, but so difficult to budget for more than is necessary! I've managed with cheap sandals so far, but my feet are demanding better these days!

Each of the three pair you've ordered is a great choice. Let us know how it turns out!

They've come!! Here are some pics.

At this stage I'm not sure about any of them. All are a little too tight at the ball if my feet which is always a problem but maybe more so in these non leather shoes.
The first is most likely of them to be a keeper though not that comfortable either. The second one is very appealing visually but I can't reach to do the strap up.
I have finally got a mostly free day this Thurs so will check out the shops carol bee and Deb have mentioned

Oh dear, this is likely frustrating.
1& 3 are cute styles and great colors but don't appear quite cut for your foot. Looks like you have narrow heel relative to forefoot so you need good fit through the heel to not slide around, but then forefoot is a little squished. For me that would be a recipe for blisters down the road. If you have the patience, I would look for a brand that has more your shape. It's worth finding makers that " get your feet".

Yes. UF you've nailed my foot issues! Oh and high arches too which is probably why I can't do the second pair up.

I wish more shoes came in a C fitting again ( or is that just showing my age?) Love the style of all these esp the colour of 1 and 2, but can see they are tight on your forefoot.
Do you know brands that work for you? I like Hush Puppies, DianaFerrari supersoft, and Easy Steps. Though my heel might be fairly wide, too.
I also should check the local podiatrist, they always have a lovely window display (of shoes!) when I drive past.
Good luck with the search next week. Wish I could join you! Even if you don't find the perfect shoes, maybe you'll find some brands to chase up online.

#1 is lovely, but perhaps a teensy bit snug. I wonder if you could do the potato trick and stretch them a little as I like the style for you a lot

They do look too tight. I wouldn't experiment with them, your sandals need to be workhorses and should be comfortable from the start. I hope you have more luck shopping B&M.

And for sandals, the shape of the sole or footbed is so much a part of the look- it's not just straps fit.
I've got some sandals that I keep hanging onto because of how well they suit my foot shape so I like the outline they give my foot. This means not just outlining my exact poor foot shape, but enhancing it while still fitting! HEWI's for sure.
