I posted recently about a possible addition to my sandal collection for this year. I ordered several pairs from Nordstrom, and sadly most of them don’t work on my feet. Sandals can be tricky — if the straps around the foot are not adjustable, they are often too roomy for my low-volume feet. Such was the case for a couple of cute pairs from Silent D and a Vagabond pair.
However, I ordered this pair on a whim, since I like the slightly architectural heel detail, and the refined style. I have fisherman, lug soles, and flat sandals well represented already, so something in a sophisticated yet casual style is speaking to me.
They’re by a Spanish brand, Paloma Barcelo, and seem very well made. They should be because they are not cheap! For something at that price point, I want to go timeless and unique, not overly trendy. I think these fit the bill. They fit well and stay on my feet, are comfortable and have a nicely padded footbed, which is sometimes hard to find in sandals.
Pics are in bad light but you get the idea. I think these would play well with everything from shorts to dresses to jeans. Not overly dressy nor too casual to dress up a bit if needed. I also like that they are neutral and low contrast with my skin but also have black touches.
I’m going to hang onto them while I keep an eye out on other styles, but I think these are a strong contender to refresh my summer footwear.
Bonus: a pair of pants from Zara that I grabbed on the way to the checkout when I was returning the oversized blue stripe dress. I’m pleasantly surprised at how well these fit and think I’ll keep them. Nice to have something breezy but with coverage in spring/summer, and the color plays well with my white, blue, and black summer tops.
