I am perhaps overthinking the sandal situation because I'm anticipating actually being able to go out in public dressed in REAL OUTFITS this summer, after spending last summer in an endless haze of pool slides and cut-off shorts.

But here is my current collection. I just realized I haven't really bought anything updated in a couple of years. The Rag & Bone are probably my most recent sandal purchase, and that was two years ago. I bought them on my shopping day with bj1111, when I also got the COS black dress, and those are very happy items for me.

Some of these are in the holding zone, probably going away:

- The Paul Green Cayenne and the Freebirds I think have had their day, although I can see a possible need for the Cayennes if I need to "dress up" a summer dress for an occasion.
- The old Kenneth Cole snake print slides fall off my feet now, so those need to go.
- The Eileen Fishers don't seem to gel with my style right now, but I like the comfort.
- The absolutely ancient Cole Haan black patent leather have been a placeholder for years. I'd like an updated look for a visually "light" and refined flat, black sandal that looks good for times when I don't want "stompy" or "clunky," but have not found any that are as flattering on the foot and as comfortable as these, that strikes my fancy. I welcome suggestions for a replacement for these. I end up reaching for this style with long floaty midi/maxi skirts and black tops, when a chunky shoe seems a little too heavy.

Some of these I'm not excited about anymore, but I keep wearing them because they fill a hole:

- The Sam Edelman black slides with the white soles. They were super cheap from the Rack and are serviceable but kind of meh.
- The Gentle Souls rose gold slides have been very good to me and I've worn them to death, but they're getting stretched out and are a little less than fab these days. I suspect this will be their last summer.
- The Tsonga custom finds are flip flops I bought in South Africa, and they're super comfortable for very casual wear, and I will continue to wear them that way, but I don't want more of this style.
- The silver Diba wedge/platform slides -- they're getting a little stretched out but still look good and I can still make them work.

What I still love to wear:

- The Rag & Bone cognac and white ones
- The Free People Mont Blancs
- The metallic Ancient Greek Sandals
- The AS98, LD Tuttle, and United Nude heeled sandals, but they are a bit dressier and not really all-day walking sandals so much anymore, so their use is more limited.
- The black Arche sandas (but I don't want to wear them too much, getting a little burnt out on them as they've been a default choice for two years now)
- The Pikolinos metallic sandals. Not super edgy but very comfortable and versatile.

This is long and maybe too analytic-focused for most of the forum, perhaps, but in my effort to be mindful about updating, it's really helping to write it out and look at the collection all together. I am a little surprised by how old the collection is, as a whole, considering this is the bulk of what I'll be wearing on my feet for the next few months, aside from sneakers and hiking shoes.

You can see in my Finds some of what I've collected lately, but it was a bit hyperfocused on pale blue to go with the pale blue bag I got for Christmas. However, I don't want to get to wrapped around that axle. My greater need is for updated, fashionable NEUTRAL sandals to wear with skirts/dresses, crops, and shorts through the summer months.

Suggestions and reactions welcome! Thanks for reading if you followed this far. I struggle with summer, and really rely on footwear to update and edge up my look, so I'm willing to invest in this a bit this year. I spent next to nothing on summer footwear last year.

I'm adding labels for the photos, sorry for initial disorganized post. All photo descriptions are left-to-right

Pic 1: Gentle Souls rose gold flatform slides - ok for another season

Free People copper flats - love them. Not for the hottest days but keepers

Rag & Bone cognac flats - love them. Keep.

Pic 2: Pikolinos metallic flats - not super interesting but comfortable - keep.

Diba platform wedge silver slides - comfortable and still look good - keep.

Pic 3: Sam Edelman black slides with white soles. Not my favorite look but comfortable and serviceable - keep.

Arche black sandals - chunky so good for certain looks, and very comfortable - keep.

Cole Haan ancient black patent flats - comfortable but really old and starting to look ragged. Really want a replacement update for the more delicate, flattering style though.

Pic 4: Ancient Greek Sandals multi-metallic strappy flats. Love - keep.

Tsongas blue flip flops. Casual and comfortable. Keep.

Tsongas silver flip flops. Ditto to the blue ones above. Keep.

Pic 5: Dressier heeled sandals, really in another category:

Sol Sana plum studded sandals. Keep.

United Nude black and white heeled sandals. Keep.

AS98 metal open-detail heel sandals. Keep.

LD Tuttle strappy heeled sandals. Keep.

The ones not in the photographs but in Finds are the ones I've already put in holding zone or am pretty sure I'm letting go: Freebirds, Paul Green heeled metallic Cayennes, reptile print Kenneth Coles, and the Eileen Fishers.
