On the "too old" question...and this might apply to your black dress thread, too, San...I find it's a lot about the rest of the outfit, what I pair it with...shoes, shirt and jacket.
Because I'm a petite rectangle, but I think I have a little pear thrown in there...I think I can wear skinny jeans...but I really got them in the winter just to wear with boots at first...and the other pair was for my son for Christmas...that's how I ended up with two pairs! (my two college age sons and I all take the same size jeans at the moment!). The first time I wore them just as jeans, without boots, I was a little self-conscious, to be honest.
But do you find you try something, and see how it feels? And I noticed how well the jeans balanced some of my tops...and also, say with a trench coat when I have more volume on the bottom, it's a nice look to have the skinny legs. I hardly ever wear dresses...my legs have some aging signs...like veins and stuff...so boots and tights are needed, but sometimes I say the heck with it and show them any way!
With a more sophisticated jacket, I hope skinny jeans are still age appropriate. I get some funny looks sometimes, especially since my hair is going gray too, but well, that happens sometimes! ...(and I'm not sure it's about my jeans :)!)
Just adding here that I thought you looked great in yours, San..how do you feel in them?
