Sales Find, classic LBD. KEEP or RETURN?

I found this while looking for something else (knitted soft sweaters). I never buy at that shop, except for some jumpers I got a couple of weeks ago (which explains my looking for more knitted wear), but I saw it and though it had some possibilities. Honestly, it looks horrible on the hanger. I think it's because of the draping on the bust. But when I put it on, oh my... fell in love.

I like it because I find it's classy, and flattering on my hourglass shape. Also, I like the sleeves. They fall past the shoulders, which reminds me of 50s dresses.

Mom doesn't love it so much, though, I think it's because of the shape, she commented on how it made my hips and bust bigger and my waist smaller, which is kind of the point of the dress! She's more modern than me when it comes to shapes. But anyways, since I take her opinion into account a lot, it left me a bit unsure.

What do you guys thing? Is it a bad find, after all?

Also, do you think this is a night-only dress, or has it any daylight possibilities? Beware I live in a very casual city and I'm on the younguish side!

It looks beautiful but very sophisticated. Perhaps Mom is afraid you'll look older than you are? I could see it with boots and tights and a denim jacket on top. It seems to fit and flatter you very well.

I think it looks lovely on you. Dark Tights and booties and a cool colorful blazer or swing coat should make it work for day. What fabric is it made of?

The fit is flattering and who doesn't need a flattering LBD? I can think of tons of ways to style it for day. You could add denim jacket or cardigan, and boots or sandals or capri leggings and ballet flats.

I cannot argue with a dress that provides such a tiny waist! KEEP. I think it's a really great style!

I think it is gorgeous on you. Depending on your lifestyle, it could be a day or night dress. I would wear this to work, out for dinner, to church, all depends on styling. I think it's a keeper.

This dress loves your waist and seems to be on the right scale (length, proportions) which is never a given, especially for women who are not very tall as you appear. I think you really need to keep this dress! It can also be dressed down and be fun to wear in dressy and casual situations. Great find!

I think it is lovely. You don't mention your age, though, so perhaps Mom is, as Claire said, concerned it makes you look older. I think it has many dress up and dress down options and fits you beautifully; I would keep. Maybe if you style it in a way that shows its youthful side, Mom will be persuaded. Or perhaps the two of you just have different taste in silhouettes!
