trying to update my look through shoes. love the shape of these margiela booties. western-lite. but VELVET for a 4-season state where slush is the predominant season between nov-march.

so impractical and i'm in love. clearly not cheap. so keep or return?

If you can think of them as inside only shoes, they cease to be “impractical”
But it looks like all the sizes are sold out.... ??

I'd return (too much money for a shoe I coudn't really wear).

But...are you OK with not wearing them often and just enjoying them when you can? Then keep!

They're really, really pretty, but I can't help but wonder, with the prevalence of this style right now, if you can find something similar in a less delicate fabrication. I know that I'd be reluctant to wear them unless weather was perfect, and well, that almost never happens! But I don't do "inside only" shoes as others have mentioned -- do you?

I have a similar pair but it doesn't rain/snow here so I can wear them all winter. It would definitely be more practical to get them in a different fabrication but it really depends on your lifestyle and when/where you are planning to wear them.

They are special. I like the sole. Chunky and delicate at the same time. But Janet makes a good point that there is a prevalence of this style and you will definitely be able to find something else at a lower price.

Looks like they are sold out anyways, but man are they gorgeous boots! I wore two pair of faux velvet (not really true velvet but very similar in look) boots all of last winter and they actually wore better than leather ones! Any dampness or salt stains brushed off, and they were terrific boots! They went into the giveaway bag this winter only because I was completely sick of them and they weren't comfortable this year . And unless you are determined to have Margiela boots, there should be good duplicates in stores right now given that these are sold out.

ok...i actually ordered the shoes and spent the afternoon wearing them around my office as i did work. i found out that i was paranoid about scuffing the velvet --for peet's sake, even the heel was covered in velvet.

and they were not comfortable for my high arch. they are back in the shipping box awaiting fedex pick up. i'm going to look for look-alikes at a lower price point that aren't too precious.

The covered heel would make me paranoid as well — I never think to switch shoes for driving and covered heels get wrecked every time I try them. I hope you find an equally fab but more robust pair!

anna, i committed to the rag and bone westins which are on the way. i also got the aquazurra suede "sock booties" with a heel. i'm debating the emporio armani sock chelseas as the most wearable of the lot. all in the finds.

although i've returned the marsell booties (photo) as i felt like an elf, honestly, i'm a bit shoe-crazed at the mo' and need help with not overbuying..
