So...everything I bought at NAS has to go back. I have to buy a new car! While I realize it sounds exciting, I am actually really sad. I have had my car for over 10 years and she's the only car I've ever had that was mine. She has been so good to me and I love her dearly. She has just gotten too expensive, with things to fix every year (not cheap.)

Anyway, seems like my NAS purchases shall be returned for now and I'll see what I really need after the car. Thanks for commiserating.

Oh, Rosie -- that seems terribly unfair. Let's find a bright side: you had a fabulous day shopping with the fabulous Taylor, so there was more to the experience than just the wonderful clothes and you'll keep that part of it always.

Oh my, well, a car does take you to the store, so not horrifying that a car is what's stopping from keeping new purchases. Just think of all the goodies in your future, after getting the car. Hmm....

Awww, too bad. I'm sure you will enjoy having a good car though. Car stuff is a pain but it is nice when you can always turn the key and have it start. Clothes are much more fun. I feel your pain - I've been spending on boring things like home repairs, vet bills and a dishwasher lately too - aye.

this breaks my heart. I am impressed at your discipline though. If it were me I'd either wait for the old jalopy to break down completely and leave me stranded on the highway, or spend every dime I have...

Oh Rosie, i understand your feelings!. We had to replace our first car after 8 years due to the accident and my hubby still misses it - it was 3 years ago!
As Angie said there will be other, more fabulous sales in the future!

I know what you mean about replacing your old friend. I just replaced my old Honda Accord in May. She was 15 years old with 263,000 miles on her and the original clutch. We'd been together a long time and had some great adventures. I'm finding that having a car payment (as aggravating as it is...haven't had one in years) is in some ways better. At least I can budget out that money each month rather than being repeatedly hit with unexpected and expensive repairs.

I ended up with an Acura TSX with a 6-speed manual. Love it and expect it to last as long as my dear old Accord:) So, since you have to have a car, might as well make it a fun process

Oh, Rosie, I'm sorry to hear this. I went through something similar last summer when my beloved (and only 8 years old) Subaru blew a head gasket. We were seriously broke for the rest of the year.

As others have said, there will always be more clothes, and you will always be fab regardless of what you're wearing. Seriously.

I am a big thrift store shopper, so if you ever want to do any thrifting, I'm in!

Thank you everyone!! I knew you all would make me feel a but less sad. And you are all correct: I will get to go shopping again soon in my new car! Beth, your point about being able to budget the payment is so true- yearly big car repairs have been killing me.

Now you have all given me all kinds of positive thought going forward! So true about the wonderful moments spent with my NAS shopping buddies, past and present. I wouldn't trade them for a million dollar shopping spree!

Taylor, I've already worn half the LOFT stuff and it was all such a good deal, so it's not going back. I will probably end up buying those shoes again! haha

It's all just a good reminder that our stuff is just stuff. Nothing more.

Not the booties!!!! Oh, bummer, Rosie. We bought a new car last year for similar reasons, and it really tied my hands for months. I feel your pain, but having to return the stuff you picked out with YLFers is even worse than tying your hands. Bummer!

Oh goodness Rosie, I feel your pain and like some of the others, admire your discipline! My car is going on ten years old and I am also starting to get to the point of us needing to consider upgrading. Now, the most important question I like to ask about a car - what colour?

Aw Rosie! I miss my first car. I had her till I got married...
My FAVORITE car (before my current one) ended up being a lemon. I had the calipers go out on me several times (on crazy I35) so that I couldn't brake or gas. I was so terrified to drive my "death car" that we went upside down to get my current car. But I'm safe, and you can't put a price on that.
