Hi Ladies,

I received some awful news today at work and I wonder if I might unload on you?

A couple of weeks back one of our long standing and dedicated volunteers was diagnosed with advanced cancer. Apparently it's everywhere and treatment is not an option.

Today we were told that on Friday he is being moved into the hospice to receive palliative care. But that's not all, two days ago his wife tried to take her own life in a particularly horrible fashion. She is in hospital two hours away having had life saving surger and her hubby has only just been told what has happened.

The couple don't have children, and there is estrangement in the wife's family and it seems she feels she can't face life without her hubby.

I'm still feeling somewhat shocked and incredibly saddened by this and find it weighing heavily on my mind.

Could I ask you to keep this couple in your thoughts, prayers or whatever you do in situations like this. The road ahead is not going to be easy and the wife is going to need a huge amount of support and care.

Thank you for being here.
