Hoping it's going to be suitable for a funeral this week? I plan on wearing it with black tights fishnets (too sexy? or plain black?) I was going to wear a skirt and jacket but it's been way to hot lately to even contemplate a jacket do you think this will need a jacket for the ceremony? I shall keep even if not funeral suitable as long as it gets YLF aproval of course

I can't find it online for a clearer picture but it is a drapey fabric with a twisted collar line and pockets in the side x

Oooh love the harem pants with that jacket and those fab shoes!!!

I can't see the detailing on the dress very well, sorry. Personally I would prefer a slightly longer dress for a funeral and I'd add an elbow-sleeve length cardigan (I know it's too hot for that right now, same here, but perhaps just for the funeral service?).

Humm i did worry it might be a bit short. I did buy a volumionous short sleeve top which I could wear with a pencil skirt and pop on my BF blazer just for the ceremony x

That sounds like a fantastic outfit, Louise. I'd be inclined to go with that for the ceremony and enjoy this cute little dress for the rest of the summer!

I also think maybe the dress is too short for a funeral, but frankly a funeral in a heat wave has me stumped. This is a question for the professionals. The fact that you are considering tights if it is 35+ is absolutely heroic. I would just add the very personal opinion that maybe in gaging what is "appropriate" you could consider the sensibilities of the person being remembered.

The harem pants outfit (to juxtapose two totally different things) looks awesome.

I am not a good expert on the funeral wear but I would go with a longer hem and covered shoulders - you cannot be too conservative for a funeral IMO.

I think you look great in the black dress-what kind of service will it be? I mean is it church, crematorium, or a bit new age if you know what I mean as I think that makes a difference.

Much too hot for tights but would be ok with flats and something over your shoulders. People seem to wear anything nowadays. Your going and that's what counts.

your pencil skirt outfit sounds much more appropriate. If the dress were 2 inches longer I think it would be much more appropriate... I don't think I'd do fishnets for a funeral ESPECIALLY with that dress length.

Given the circumstances of the death, I'd err on the side of conservative.

Hehehe Scarlet our heatwave is 30 c at most thankfully it's a little cooler today at 21 c but I've been melting the last couple of days and the kids at work and I have been paddling in the water tray and having fun with the hose pipe this last week! to try and cool down. Re the funeral it's for a 21 year old chap.

Chewy there is a wide band at the bottom which is the width of the hem but i think i'd need to remove the band to release anything to alter the hem if that makes sense and my sewing skills are nowhere near that advanced!

I don't have muchto add about the funeral outfit - I agree with everyone. I love the harem pants outfit. Are those fly london shoes Louise?

I think then it's ok to wear it- i'm sure for such a young person it's perfectly acceptable.

I'm also sure if there are young people there that they will be dressed in all sorts of outfits-things are much more relaxed nowadays.

I agree that the dress is too short for a funeral, even at a crematorium. However, if your wear a dress or skirt with a longer hem, I don't think you need hose. I was at a funder in 100 degree temps this past week and wore a dress without hose.

Sihaya- no they were from Marks & Spencer they are sitting down shoes as I can only walk in them for a very short time but they are gorgeous my heart ruled my head on these

Oh well I shall keep anyway and wear with leggings for the summer and go with the pencil skirt and voluminous top for the funeral x

I think it's too short for a funeral, and I agree w/ Melllls that if you wear something a bit longer, there's no need for hose. (But if you disagree, I wouldn't wear fishnets. Definitely plain hose/tights.)

Thanks for talking me out of wearing this dress which I really should have know was more tunic length- *telling myself off* 'how long have I been here now I should have known better!' Problem solved I found a black replica on ebay of a dress I already own x
