sack dress?

I've been wanting to add a sack dress to my closet but I can't really find many in the stores. Those of you who have them, where did you find them?

Additionally, this seems like the perfect style for my transitional pregnancy body but maybe it's not. Anyone have thoughts on whether it would be something I could do as my tummy continues its growth into maternity clothes?

Alecia- Old Navy has some cute ones right now. They were everywhere in the spring/summer, but maybe sweater dresses or empire waists will work for you right now?

I think they are more of a summer look, since a lot of them balance the sack shape with a shorter length and a lack of sleeves. I found a couple that might fit the description, though:

I agree, I think they were more of a summer look, but there are empire waist dresses everywhere! Try Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, TK Maxx and Macy's: those are my go-to dress shops.

There is an AMAZING sleeveless sack dress at H&M at the moment – part of the new Spring line. It’s a mushroom colour and absolutely heavenly in design. Good design *really* turns me on! Don’t know how it will handle after the wash, but it’s worth a try.

As for sack dresses being a good maternity style, it really depends on how you’ll carry and how big you get. I say try them sooner rather than later.

Alecia -- Angie is so right about trying them sooner rather than later. It can be tricky to wear loose non-maternity clothes as maternity clothes when you are in your final months, because the front of the dress will hike up much shorter than the back.

But they could be a great option for, say, the second trimester...

Love the suggestions Dashrashi linked to especially the tweed shift dress and those last two sweater dresses! Not sure what your due date is but these might also be nice postpartum when your body is not quite back to normal yet. These would be a great pick me up (style wise) when you're short on sleep and you're kind of middle of the road again as far as what you can wear. It will be fun to see your maternity style unfold!

I wore a sack dress in the first and second semester, as the pregnancy progressed I defined my bump by tying ribbon under the bust to create a empire line.
