I boxed up and sent back the two Zara silk blouses on the way to work this morning and then went on my lunch break and returned the Jeanne Beker blouse and the NYDJ Megan jeggings. It felt reaallllly good!

One of my issues with the NYDJ jeggings was the rise - it was just too high for my body type, even though I am high waisted. The waist just hit in the wrong spot and I kept wanting to either pull them up or slide them down. I do still want a pair of ponte knit slim pants for tucking into boots and wearing with long sweaters like my Eileen Fisher charcoal sweater. So I stopped quickly to look in the Lord & Taylor petite section after making my returns. I have a pair of Lord & Taylor black pants (made into slouchy pants by Wonder Woman), a L&T animal print merino wool cardigan and my striped voluminous L&T wool sweater. I love the brand, quality and fit for me. Well lo and behold...they had lovely mid weight skinny ponte pants in petite (just put out today apparently). I tried them on and they were PERFECT. The waist is a bit lower than the NYDJ jeggings and in my sweet spot - no muffin top and no sliding down. They have nice wide belt loops for someone who wants to semi tuck and some seam detailing on the inner calf to look a bit like equestrian riding pants. And they were only $59! Sorry no pics - I didn't have my phone with me and they aren't on The Bay website to show you. But they came home with me and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Then I had a peek at the INC petite section and they had a fabulous Bailey 44 type dress in black/cobalt/white - the fabric is heavier than the Bailey 44 version and when I tried it on, didn't show a single lump or bump. In fact, I prefer the fit and fabrication of this one to the much more pricey Bailey version. At $89, it also came home with me.

So doing the girl math, I still ended up with $254 returned to my account! I couldn't be happier with my new items and will wear them to death - I can already see the dress with all sorts of my toppers and footwear. And to stick with my budget, the dress will be in place of one pair of work trousers.

I'm also noticing a fall and winter color palette in my wardrobe that is primarily black, cobalt, white and grey - LOVING IT!!!

Thanks for listening to my rambling...
