Royal Wedding mania in New Zealand

Hi folks

Is there also Royal Wedding mania going on where you live?
It is all over the media here (New Zealand loves all things British), people are even having parties on Friday to celebrate!

I am not that interested in the dress... but will be neat to watch history being made

Yes! It's all on the TV ... all my normal TV watching channels are all full of Wills & Kate stuff... it's crazy! I learned more about Diana and Charles today than I did about Psychiatry (which I'm trying to study) hahaha.

It's really low key in Denmark, although some of the Brits I know are heading home just to be there for the parties. I think Europeans might be less 'celebrity' focussed than some other parts of the world?

Of course living in the UK it is a massive deal and actually quite fun. I do think that they make a lovely couple, which is why people are so excited and want to be part of the celebrations. It is nice to see that they have been able to add a personal touch to their wedding as well as fulfilling their obligations as future King and Queen.

We get a day off on Friday and lots of people are having street parties to celebrate. We think we may go to one with Ness.

Lynne - did you live in Denmark when Mary and Frederick married? I think that it was a little bit like that maybe?

Fi, we were living in The Netherlands at the time, but we loved watching, and tourism to Denmark boomed after that wedding and has never really dropped. So I am guessing your royal wedding could have a fantastic flow on effect for the UK economy, as well. It's nice to be at the forefront of everyone's minds for such a happy reason!

We were here for the Swedish royal wedding last year, and the atmosphere was wonderful (even though Denmark and Sweden are traditional rivals!). Being able to watch these events in real time does make them special.

I'm also in the UK but Scotland is really quite low key about the wedding, no union jacks and not many parties planned, I do have the day off (YAY).

My Dad is in London right now (visiting my brother and his family). They have all been invited to a Royal Wedding Bash!

On the BBC here, news of the Royal Wedding is abundant.

I don't watch TV (except at the gym) and only read the Sunday paper, and I am already sick of it. I really don't care, but then I didn't care about Charles & Di's wedding, either.

I'm getting up to watch it at 3 a.m. our time. My mom and mother-in-law are coming over to watch it with me. I promised my seven-year-old daughter I'd wake her up too, although it remains to be seen if she can stay awake!

I got up in the middle of the night to watch Prince Charles and Lady Diana get married when I was nine. I'm not a huge follower of the royal family, but it was fun and memorable to watch history being made. I like the pomp and ceremony.
