Rodarte Pants: Would You Dare?

I saw these Rodarte pants the other day and can't get them out of my mind. Could you actually wear these pants in real life? How would you style them? Where would you wear them?

At just under $7000, I'm assuming that these would be an investment purchase, so you might need to wear them more than once just to justify your purchase. Any ideas?

I would totally wear these, but I would put them over neon tights and top them with an oversized neutral sweater or t, like charcoal. And then I'd go grocery shopping. LOVE.

Although I don't even like lacing my BOOTS.

*laughing* MaryK, that was my first reaction as I spit out my coffee this morning when I saw an ad for those pants in my morning paper. But the more I looked at them, I could see some of the forum members figuring out ideas for actually styling them so they might be wearable.

Una, I knew that you'd come through. Those pants with neon tights and a big sweater sound perfect for a Saturday morning trip to the grocery store in Anchorage. And, since you probably make that run at least a couple of times a week, you'd get the CPW down in no time!

Who said high fashion can't be practical! And those pants might be forgiving if your weight started to fluctuate. Just loosen the laces a bit.

Those pants just might cause some interesting reactions in my peer group. I'd need to make sure my CPR certifications were up to date before venturing out.

Denise, I take it that you think a lace top wouldn't be enough to soften the vibe? Or neon tights? Although, I'm sure that I have some students who would think that that type of career change wouldn't be much of a stretch.

Actually some of those students should be grateful that I'm taking a break before marking their papers. I'm now in a much better mood and am trying to be more gentle in my comments. My whip is back in the closet.

I love 'em. But this is coming from someone who owns two pairs of leather leggings, two pairs of leather pants, and two pairs of leather paneled skinnies.
I'd wear them with my oversized semi sheer Acne blouses.

Ah, that pile of marking is slowly going down. And a few students ought to be thanking all the responders to this thread for keeping me in a good mood when assigning grades.

But, I have to add this little tidbit: While I was laughing at the responses, a younger colleague walked into my office curious about the noise (laughter is rare around here these days). When I showed her the thread, instead of laughing, she pursed her lips and said "If those pants were in a silver-grey leather instead of black, I'd totally wear them under a mod dress when I went out with my friends". And, you know, I think she'd look great in them.

Thanks for indulging me everyone. And Anna and Una, I think both of you would make me drool if I saw either of you wearing these pants.

Pride weekend in SF is June 29 & 30 if you would want to wear these and not be noticed/noticeable. But at that price, I would want to be noticed!

I would definitely consider these a uniform that is eligible for tax deduction. Class management and lecturing would be a lot easier in these, and I would pair them with a crisp white button down, blazer and stilettos. In fact, I think I'll order straight away, before they're sold out.
