I'm nodding along with Taylor and Suz. Body type AND your figure flattering priorities have a lot to do with your rise and tucking preferences. You gals make a lot of sense. Janet and Lisa P confirmed your musings.

I've liked it ALL. I wore low-rise A LOT and enjoyed it. I like mid-rises and still wear them. Now I like exposed high rises best.

IMPORTANT EXTRA PERSONAL QUALIFIER: I don't wear heels, and like the look of a longer leg line. Tucking into high rises lengthens my legs from the thighs upward, which is a proportion I prefer with flats. Most of you will wear two inch heels or higher, which visually kicks low and mid-rise proportions back into long leg line territory.

These conversations always bring home for me why it's so difficult to buy off-the-rack. I'm 5'4" most days (5'5" at my last physical; I blame more yoga and a new mattress ), with a 31" inseam for trousers and a relatively long rise. A 9" rise sits at my hips, 12" at my belly button, so those are the two ends of my rise spectrum, and I happily wear anything in between. The low-rise years, when 7.5-8" was the highest you could find, were tough for me. I spent more time than I care to admit hitching up my jeans to prevent plumbers crack. My best pants all came from the thrift store.

A 10 inch rise hits my bellybutton. Anything above that feels like a bruise wnd looks ridiculous on my shirt waist.

Anything below a 9 inch rise, and I get a muffin top. My sweet spot is narrow and I guess is on the mid-high side. To keep currentl, I’m doing a semi-tuck to show off the rise. But I couldn’t really change what I was buying by much at all.

I am 5'7", with a long waist and a high rise. Add a curvy bottom, and a 9 inch rise is too low for me to wear as it barely covers my butt. A 12 inch rise is mid-rise to me. I stopped wearing jeans when only low rises were available at retail because nothing would fit. I am happy with all the "high" rises available at retail now.

No low rise in my wardrobe. Two mid-rise. Two high rise.

Interesting.

I measured my three current pairs of jeans (two are in storage for summer so not available)

They are all in the 11-12 inch region - and feel good - I think they are high rise but not super high. I suspect my Superdry jeans are more like 8 inches and the rise was annoying me last year (but I love the leg fit).

I am 5 ft 8 inches and think I am short waisted.

Haven't worn low rise in many years, they make me nervous! Saw an article on MSN that they're coming back though....
Both of my pairs of jeans are high rise, 10 inch, but some of my trousers are mid rise.
