Ripskirt alternatives

I have been eyeing the Ripskirts for warm weather wear but the prints just don’t appeal to me. I am guessing it’s not the only one of it’s kind on the market. Have you found other alternatives that are comparable?

Epigal,same! I don’t see the prints/colours on me at all. And I love the idea of that skirt.

I’m actually thinking of passing along mine because the tropical print feels limiting, so i hear you. I haven’t seen a copycat but it seems a ripe opportunity for a maker who wants to offer a little more sophistication. I like wraps in general but it’s hard to get the details right and find a version that doesn’t have fidgety ties.

None of the prints appealed to me either, that's why I bought the black. I wish they'd make it in solid burgundy.
Haven't seen an alternative yet, unfortunately.

Yeah, they really work the beach vibe, which is a solid market, I bet! It seems like it would be easy enough to sew a duplicate in whatever fabric one wishes, with just a little skill.

I was just thinking what Janet said - might be worth it to buy the black one and copy it to make a few in fabrics you like. I agree, about the prints. There are very few tropical ones that work for me.

I think the quick-drying fabric may be the hold-up. The outdoor gear companies make skirts but they are sportier styles. This looks right up Eshakti’s alley.

I've been interested in these since Janet first posted about them af ew years ago - but tropical prints aren't quite what I want. Fine for the pool or beach, but that's so limiting. Back in my sewing days, I would have put together one of those in an afternoon . Navy or olive would be my choices.

They changed the lengths, too -- they don't have the midi length that Janet and I got -- just a shorter mid length or a true maxi, I think.

Mine is a "tropical" print, I guess -- but in non-tropical neutrals so it works for me.

Suz, they show 4 lengths and a sport version on their website along with the new? Navy colorway. Their stock on Amazon US is slimmer.

I have a solid black Nike skirt that fills this role for me. I think Nordstrom has them if you are looking for free shipping.

They do have four lengths on the website, yes. But none is exactly the length and Janet and I got, which is longer than their current knee-covering length and shorter than their maxi. I wonder if they would make to order, though....maybe? They are not available in Canada yet although they claim they are opening for online shopping here soon.

I was so disappointed to see that the length I wanted was discontinued.
Can the skirts be worn without a bathing suit under? Wondering how sheer they are and if they blow open?

@ Barbara Diane- I wear my black one as a regular skirt (with regular knickers). It's not sheer.
The one I have doesn't blow open as much as some other wrap skirts, maybe cause it's narrower at the legs- but mine is the discontinued midi length. If it's really windy/stormy it needs a pin.

Agreeing with suntiger. Mine does not blow open (miraculously! -- but I will acknowledge it's on the larger size for me so it has more overlap than it might, otherwise) and it is not see through at atll.
