I like #2 and #3, with a little length adjustment.

Thanks Angie! Do you think the creases that Jenni mentioned are a deal breaker?

My preference, BTW, is for number three, the dark boot cuts. But I like all of them.
I unexpectedly have some free time today, (I'm in Australia, it's 9:30am) so may get to the shops so if anyone has further feedback speak now!

Anne, I love the dark wash ones on you (pic 3), and I think they all look good. I disagree that the creases are a problem. A lot of jeans do that. If we were looking at dress trousers with a more fluid fabric, yes, I would say it's a fit problem. But in my experience, the denim and style of jeans do create some creases across the front that you don't usually see in other pants. (see the finds below, for example)
I have a few pairs of Levis Wedgie style jeans, but here in the US they are actually less expensive than some of the other brands I usually buy. So I appreciate that they are a relative bargain. I don't know that I would pay more for them. It comes down to how much I love the style, really. If you like the other brand just as well, I don't see a reason to pay more for Levis. I will admit to having preferences for brands based on pocket design, so I could totally understand paying extra for the distinctive Levi's pocket if that's part of the appeal.
I don't have a long enough rise to wear ribcage jeans. They are too high for me. Looks like they are a great fit for you!

Thanks Firecracker for your thoughts on the wrinkles and Levi quality!

Well I didn't make it to the shops (weekly food shop had me flaked out on the couch) so more time for input.

The creases don't bother me. I like #2 the best but all three look like they fit well. I don't have any personal experience with the high rises, they are just laughable on me

Thanks robin, yes I have an unusual body and I know that many, like you, don't go for this.
Thanks for chiming in with your favourite and comments on fit

Anne, I ended up buying the ribcage ankle straight Levis jeans yesterday. I went to a specialist jeans retailer in Auckland (had 45 minutes to spare), tried on six pairs of jeans and fell in love with these.

Will post a photo later.

They are long - I am 5 foot 8 and I am considering whether I crop mine a wee bit too.

I always feel as though I am short waisted but the waist here is at my naval so my shortness must be in my torso.

Oh wow Sal, am looking forward to seeing the photos!

Your height must play into this too, in terms of whether your rise is long.

Here you go Anne - quite late in the day with chopped cabbage for our salad in the background....

One leg I rolled a wee bit and I posted the rear view too.

Another vote for the dark ones in #3!

Anne, I don't think the creases are a deal breaker. The fit looks good from what I can see in the pics.

Thanks Sal, suntiger and Angie, that's really helpful.

UPDATE!!

So I decided to buy the ribcage straight ankle (number 2) - the same one as Sal. While I really liked number 3, I have two dark bootcuts in reasonable condition from the 00s so it seemed a bit extravagant to get another pair just for the waistline.

They had gone on special and combined with a gift card, meant I only paid $13!!

And then the wide leg pants in number 4 went on special at half price for the darker colour and I ordered them too.

I'll post separately for hemming suggestions (and will check out Sal's thread if her pics are still there)

Well those were my faves of the 3 choices so yay! And yay for $13!
