My Lands End order came and the Purple coat didn't work out. The sleeves fit better, but they changed the rest somewhat and the waist was much bigger now. Not so fab.

But, the puffer I ordered additionally is a perfect fit. It's a petite, last year I had tried the regular. The shoulders and sleeves are perfect, The waist hits me just right and there's enough room for my hips. It's clearly only for pants, but maybe I just have to start building my winter wardrobe around pants and keep my skirts for spring, summer and fall. Now, the only problem I have with this is the color. It's PINK. I had hoped it would be a bit softer IRL, but it's really loud. They still have my size in a light grey (although I'm a the fan of the yellow, I think I'd need a different scarf then). The grey would be about 15€ more expensive.

Should I exchange it for the grey? Or return it and keep looking elsewhere?

ETA

I ordered the grey one already, I didn't want to wait in case it would sell out in the meantime.

Wow - perfect, perfect fit! Fabulous fit! If you don 't like the color then you should hurry and get the color you like. Grey would probable be more versatile, but the pink does not look bad.

I'm so sorry about the purple coat! I thought it would be a sure thing.

I have to say that I kind of LOVE this pink coat on you. Like times a million. The color is stunning. What immaculate fit! But I want you to love it that much too if you keep it. Remember the hot pink skinny jeans that your friend gave you? You were never really comfortable in them and I can't remember if it was the color that bothered you or the fact that they were skinny jeans. Refresh my memory s'il vous plait.

You know, this color is gorgeous. It is a real pop of happy on a drab winter day. That said, i don't know, you have to love the color.

The color is very pretty on you. With your complexion and hair. I know it is louder than you are used to but I think you should keep it. That light gray in my opinion is too light.

Thanks Claire. I agree, the fit is fantastic. And what a good memory you have. It was both with the pinks sinnies. I'm wearing them more now that they are a bit darker and not as bright pink, but still only under my one dress because I'm not comfortable in them with shorter tops. I don't have anything against sort of a darker cranberry pink, but this is very bright and not what I would chose with other clothes.

Thanks Donnat! I agree this is a happy color, but I'm not sure it's not too bright on ME. I'm a soft summer who can wear warmer tones too - as long as they are soft. I feel like you see the color more than you see me.

Thanks Shirley. Why do you think the grey would be too light? I'd go with more a more colorful scarf and hat then and I can wear light grey well (e.g. with pullovers).

I agree with the others. You should love the color. It doesn't look bad on my monitor, but I would worry that IRL it was kind of garish. I vote to spend the extra on the grey and wear a colorful scarf.

Thanks Marmee! I ordered the grey. I think I will feel much more comfortable in it and the extra money is well spent.

What a great fit! At long last you've found the perfect coat.
I love the pink but you have to love it too, so follow your instincts if you think the grey would be more wearable.

The fit is gorgeous, Astrid. And I know what you mean about the pink. In the monitor it looks terrific on you (but it reads more as a red on my screen). But I have a casual rainproof jacket in that pink -- I bought in in an emergency situation at a super low cost and I am not sorry -- it's just that I would not pick it again because I feel not like myself in it. It doesn't actually look bad but I feel too garish. I think the grey will be lovely with a great scarf and you have many of those.

Thanks for answering Astrid. I'm a soft summer too, and this color looks spot on in regard to hue (chroma?) but it is pretty saturated. I think your dark hair (well, darker than mine with the grey) helps you pull it off. I noticed the pink in your cheeks right away. If it doesn't look a great deal brighter IRL, and you love it, I would keep it. If not, the grey is a viable option. I think a lot of depends on your personality and what you want to project.

Thanks Suz! That's it - it doesn't look bad but it feels too garish on me. I think I will be happy with the grey one. And the silver grey is a long way from the old black too!

Claire, it would probably work very well if it wasn't as saturated, you're right. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of color especially in the dark winter months, but this seems a tad too much.

I understand your hesitation about the color, but the fit is great! I'm glad you ordered it in a different color and hope it will work out for you. Living in the same city as you I kind of want to see you in a real winter coat, you know I got my first down coat last december, after having thought long and hard about the color, because I wanted it to go with everything, and I'm quiet particular about what goes with what. The coat I finally got is dark green, and I wore it to the ground last winter. It's a nice feeling to be warm

Love this coat! You know I don't shy away from color, but I think wearing strong color is as much about personality as coloring. You have to want to be this visible. The grey is a pretty shade. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new scarf is yellow is what really makes you happy! I have to enjoy yellow vicariously!

I'm glad that you ordered the light grey and hope it fits you as well as the pink does, knowing fit can vary. It took me a few outings to feel comfortable with the color of my bright pink trench, but now I hardly notice.

Fantastic fit Astrid and having bought a Lands End puffer last year, I can speak to how comfy and warm those coats are. Glad you ordered the grey to try and as Suz mentioned, you can change up that with different scarves and hats.

BTW I wear mine with skirts and dresses all the time - I just add tights and knee high boots and voila!

You look great! But I can see how a deeper or richer color might suit you more. It needs to either be a "happy" bright for you or a neutral. See how you like the gray, It is more silvery than I would choose, but is a great neutral and you could go to town with scarves and then not feel too out there.

Astrid, you have a keeper. I have a similar length LE puffer and really like it. It isn't too heavy and is very comfortable.

Thanks Shannon! But you wear mostly pencil skirts, right? My straight plaid skirt might work, but I think it looks strange when the bottom of a fuller skirt is visible below the hem of the (straight cut) coat.

I'm sorry the purple coat didn't work out, Astrid, but this puffer is perfect!! I too really love the pink on you (and after getting a bright green coat two years ago, I can tell from experience how surprisingly versatile a bright colour can be, even if it doesn't seem to "fit in" with the rest of your wardrobe at first sight + I've also discovered that wearing a coat in a bright, happy colour can really cheer you up on even the dreariest of Winter days - just my two cents:-) But of course you have to love it to bits too, Astrid. Curious to hear your thoughts on the grey one too. Keep us posted!

Thanks Inge! I guess the grey is definitely the safer option. But I do like the idea of it looking at a neutral coat, much better than a black one for example. I actually think I would stand out plenty with this silver grey coat and some colorful accessories. I think I could take the pink in small doses (in fact I have a hat in almost the same color), but in a coat it feels a bit too bright to me.

Yesss! Beautifull fit! I actually love the pink on you Astrid! You can always tone it down with (light) grey scarves and hats! Although if you will order the grey, then pls match it with some pink scarves:-))

I think the pink is actually a good color on you, but I get that it is too bright for your taste. The fit is really awesome. Bummer about the purple because that color would have been great too. Well, let's try the gray on then.

Scarlet, I agree about the purple, it's too bad. I was browsing scarves and came across this one below, I think it would be fantastic with the grey coat (there's yellow in it) and with my pink hat...

Beautiful fit, Astrid. The pink is so vibrant and happy, but in the long run it sounds like you will be happier with the gray. Think of the fun you will have with accessories!
