Revisiting the oversized denim jacket...

When Angie blogged about the oversized denim jacket trend the reaction was mostly negative. I have just ordered this jacket as a transition piece and was curious to know if your eyes have also adjusted to the look http://www.urbanoutfitters.co......433738444/

Are there any other looks which your eyes are adjusting to?

A fluid piece, and not that oversized. Nice! I liked this trend from the start.

I don't think what I am about to say is a question of "adjusting", Jules. It's a matter of style preferences shifting towards a particular look. I am enjoying "pretty" more and more. I have always loved refinement and polish, but refinement is more important to me than ever as I get older. And although part of my style is quite tomboy (the hair especially) - it's still a refined tomboy. I am 100% over rugged and distressed accept for faded jeans and my 20 eyelet Docs (which are part of my style soul). That said, I love the rugged look on others. It's part of their style soul and so they wear it with panache.

Jules, are you going to wear your denim jacket over wide trousers, pencil skirts and dresses? I'm excited to see you outfit renditions. xo

I think it would look good on you! As Angie says, it isn't that oversized anyway and would look good with your height and great legs!

As for the adjustment question, I am such a slow adopter that I am just coming around to the idea of booties!

I am hoping to wear it with everything apart from jeans. I have in my head to try first a black fluid tank dress, ankle boots and the jacket.

I sense that as your style is becoming more refined mine is becoming more casual which definitely keeps things interesting.

It doesn't look that oversized to me, just not cropped. I think a lot depends on what you're going to wear it with. Could be a really useful piece.

For me....it's not a question of adjustment. It just wouldn't work so well in my climate. Transition pieces not being needed as much...and then it wouldn't layer as well under a coat as a smaller jacket.

So it's not always a question of adjusting to a style or look. It is sometimes a question of whether or not the trend will work for one practically speaking.

Ah Suz, but this is because you do not work in A/C environment! For me a denim jackets is a workhorse because I can layer it over sleeveless tops and dresses for work and remove outside...
Jules, I quite like it, it is a great piece for cool Scotch summers and your potential outfit sounds perfect!
