Hi friends, some of you may recall my "not" list from early in the year, in which I declared I would be setting my fashion neuroses aside and charting a path towards less self-doubt and more self-confidence! Dream big!
How did I do?
1. Helena, THOU SHALT NOT say you don't know, or are unsure of, your style. YES! I think I did this one. I don't feel like I've questioned my style very much at all this year, at least not at a macro-directional level.
2. Helena, THOU SHALT NOT say you don't know your color palette. Mission accomplished. I've focused on cool colours and put aside splitting hairs beyond that. Yay!
3. Helena, THOU SHALT NOT throw your hands up in despair and decide style is impossible because of the weather. I *think* I achieved this - yes, the weather this year has been sucky. Yes, there were days when I just dressed for the weather. BUT I don't think I worried about it - I think I took it rather in stride and just did my best.
4. Helena, THOU SHALT NOT decide you're a complete style failure because you have a week or two where it goes down the toilet. Check. Too many bigger things to worry about this year. Perspective is everything.
5. Helena, THOU SHALT NOT gaze at the navel, wring thy hands, or shed thy tears because you have a normal period of self-doubt or self-questioning. Another one where I *think* I did it. No spiraling this year that I recall!
Some of you know me well enough to call me out if I am deluding myself (and I am willing to hear it!) - but I think I stuck to my list. I had initially planned to splurge on a Tiffany necklace to celebrate. But given recent circumstances, I've changed my mind. My mom loved birds and I spotted this necklace by a local designer known for quite good quality silver pieces (and extremely reasonable which is a bonus). I wanted to get some sort of 'memory' necklace that I could wear every day, and I think this might fit the bill nicely - what do you think?
