Some of you already know that I bought a cashmere pullover from Eric Bompard while I was in Paris last week. bj1111 asked for a review, and of course I'm happy to provide that for you!
The pullover in question can be seen here: http://www.eric-bompard.com/la.....lover.html
Initially I thought that I should postpone posting until I've washed the sweater, but I will update this review instead when it's done. The reason why is that I'm going away again this week, and it will not be washed until I return next weekend, at the earliest. I wouldn't lead you to believe that I have forgotten about it.
To the point:
The model I chose is a mix of 70% cashmere and 30% silk. It is really toasty, no need to add any layers as long as the temperature is above freezing level. It is actually equally comfortable indoors in temperatures around 20 degrees C and outdoors with only a blazer or leather jacket on top. I'm surprised by how it seems to adjusts to shifts in temperature. I've worn the sweater three times now, and it still looks and smells very clean and fresh. I've worn it for work, out to dinner with a friend, and at home. It is incredibly soft and retains its shape really well. Scrunching the sleeves is no problem, the rib doesn't stretch out of shape at all. It is too early to know whether it's prone to pilling or not, but it really looks good so far.
Size: I bought an M, and the sales lady told me to get M in the fitted pullovers, but S in the classic cuts. I tried on a few others, but this one looked best on me. I normally buy S in many brands, but also XS sometimes. For example are most of my American clothes size 4 (mainly BR). I advice you to size up from your regular size if you want to buy the fitted versions from the website.
My temporary conclusion is that it is one of the best sweaters I've ever owned, and I will certainly try to get my hand on more of them. It is somewhat expensive, but not outrageously so. I've seen many garments of much poorer quality at a similar price point. I love it already and hope it will last for many seasons!
ETA: I've just found out that the French tax (19%) is deducted automatically if you order from outside the EU. That helps, too!
This review will be updated when the sweater has been washed. Stay tuned!
ETA 11.28.12: I've now washed the sweater, machine wash, wool cycle, cold, and it is fresh as new. No problems occurred during washing, neither shrinking or misshaping. After wearing it half a dozen times it shows no signs of pilling or any other problems. How come I din't know any sooner how much I need this navy colored v-neck? I think I have to get another one rather sooner than later.
