Reunion outfit

I am going to a high school reunion this sunday. It isn't the usual type - just meeting up in the park with kids. here are 2 possibilities

Sounds like you could go with either, but I have to say the blouse in photo 1 is really beautiful. You look great in crisp, true white.

Both outfits look perfect for the occasion. I have a slight preference for the first one since you might be more comfortable in it chasing the little ones around the park, yet very stylish.

Thanks for the feedback - I do like that blouse too (It's cream Shiny, though the dress is white)

I just bought the dress in a end of season sale at a local market for $20, thinking it'd fit the bill for my really hot days. However
1) my bigger breast doesn't fit so well
2) It look from the photo like the hem in uneven (I had to try it on in the loos!)
3) It isn't very fitted, which I think I'd prefer

I also thought of wearing my denim skirt with a fitted top

I will wear my contacts, since my glasses search is still ongoing.

This has put my hairstyle need into focus, as I haven't had it cut for about 5 months. I am thinking of getting it just trimmed and the roots done, rather than embarking on any radical change just now
Do you think that is sensible?

You know I like your hair shorter and the style tighter (like a previous cut you showed in a photograph). But that did not meet with hubby's approval then, so I shan’t suggest it again :0(

Anne -- I think that the current style when first done looks beautiful. If a trim and roots will get you back to that style, definitely do it. You will look great and it will give you time to keep thinking about what you want. Also, I'm late on the outfits but I like the first one best as well.

To me the first outfit looks complete/polished due to the detail on the blouse and shoes. Also love the nice dark wash of the clamdiggers.

I think the print/color of the dress is pretty and I'm curious to know how it would look paired with a bolder color (kelly green?)

That's tricky, and I'm running into that with my wardrobe too, Anne. I have the perfect color to wear with one thing, but the cut is NOT the right shape - or I have something that's cut very cute but the color doesn't do a lot. I guess it doesn't hurt to experiment, though.

Green was simply the first color that popped into my mind since I'm not the most creative color-coordinator, but it would be really fun to see how other bright colors or jewel tones would work with the dress, too.

i love both outfits, actually, but the first one wins out since it seems more appropriate for the activity. do you plan on accessorizing any further? could you wear the fuschia cardi with this outfit or is it too hot?

Anne, you look great in both outfits. I'd wear a dress to the playground as long as I knew I wouldn't end up on the monkey bars, but the first outfit seems a tad more practical. I didn't think the blouse needed to be more fitted, it fits you very well. I didn't notice it as being too tight around your chest either.

I love your hair in the photo after it was first cut. I'd go with that if you're not itching for a big change. You have very pretty hair.

Hi Dani - I'd wear a dress to the playground too (My older kids at 3 and 5 don't need me to do much climbing with them) I was presenting 2 outfits that I thought would suit the occasion - more wanted aesthetic comments.
What I agree the blouse fits well. My comments about fitting were about the dress. The other thing I forgot to mention about the dress is that to me, the bodice looks like it should be the back of the dress, not the front.

I have managed to get an apt to get a haircut this afternoon, but not a colour so I am doing my roots myself as I write. I normally do my own colour anyway, though was thinking of splashing out on getting them done professionally in honour of the occasion.
I think I'll go for the recut - thanks for vote of confidence aj and Dani

BTW Dani nice to read more from you at the moment- are things lightening up a bit at home?

Hi Anne...that's what happens when I read things in a hurry I didn't even get that you were talking about the dress!! So sorry.

I've been trying to take a little time for me each day and do some things that make me happy so I've been making a conscious effort to spend a little time on here each day. Things, unfortunately, aren't much better at the moment but I'm hanging in and getting by. Thanks so much for asking, you're very sweet.

Can't wait to see your new cut and enjoy your reunion!

Well I got my haircut. The hairdresser didn't do it as short as in that picture. I am not very impressed but hopefully it will look better once I wash it.
I went overboard a bit with colouring it myself and am looking a bit too blonde!
I'll get the pictures to you later - got to go and pack

Anne, just want to chime in that I love the first outfit you posted and would choose it for the reunion. I did notice the uneveness of the dress hem which you pointed out...not sure what to do about it, though, aside from measuring and hemming it again. I also like the hairdo you posted. I hope your current cut turns out that well in the end. Have a great time at your reunion!

I am not too pleased with it, but I can't really blame the hairdresser - I just said "cut about 6 months growth off please".
You can see my over the top home blonding too

Secondly, the reunion went well and was very fun, though there were only 6 of us there. The outfit went fine - though I did almost wear the dress ( I wore it that morning) and that would have been just as good and a little cooler. Also the apparent uneven hem turned out to be just a matter of a few tugs at the back to sort out

Thirdly - in the photo I am wearing a new red necklace. I love chunky red necklaces, and I think that outfit could do with some red, but something seems a bit mismatched about the style. Do you agree?

The necklace is lovely, but its competing with the ruffles of the tunic at that length – perhaps if it was little longer it would work.

Love the outfit with the tunic over clams! It's one of my faves of yours so far! I agree with Angie that the necklace would really shine over a plainer top. Maybe you could find a photo of a cut you like and take it to the stylist next time you go for a cut?

I think I will do that for my hair. I just hadn't decided what I wanted ( I even have some images saved) and suddenly needed a haircut ASAP and it all went out the window, or on hold anyway. Also I thought about printing the image of my last haircut posted on this thread but my printer doesn't work at the moment.

Does it look a great deal blonder? Too blonde? I have been too blonde in the past. In Japan I got white hair as they weren't used to non-Asian hair!

Hi Anne, I can only see one picture and it is the one without glasses. Is this picture after the haircut? It looks still quite long. I do not think it is too blonde for you. I like the color especially if you live near the beach. The salt air and very blonde tresses go together.
