Returning to watch shopping ETA question about bands

I started looking for a new watch some time ago and was in a bit of a double bind, because the watches I liked best were too expensive for me and I really want a new one. I definitely wanted oversized, but very simple.

I tried the first in a store the day before yesterday and I liked the size and the simple look of it. They're holding it for me until Thursday. Now I've seen the second one (the same as #1 only with numerics) online for 30€ less. Should I buy #2 and use the price difference to my advantage and buy another band for it? Or should I pass on both?

i like how both look i would probably go with the less expensive one IF it from a reputable online source. I have been very pleased with the performance of my citizen eco-drive watch i have had since 2004.

I've been extremely happy with my Citizen eco drive watch, which I purchased several years ago from J.C. Penney. I recently posted about the extremely low CPW I've gotten from this! I wear it all the time. It is now available at Amazon:

I just bought another Citizen eco drive watch, this time from Amazon. It arrived yesterday, and I'm quite pleased. I haven't worn it yet, as I need to have some links taken out to make it fit properly. Yes, it looks a lot like the other watch, but I wanted something a little dressier this time around:

My DH and his father also wear Citizen watches. They've had them for years. My DH bought his a few years ago when we were aboard a Carnival cruise ship. They had a really good sale, and he took advantage of it.

I like them both! I would probably go with the less expensive one unless you feel it would be less reliable. I looked a long time too before I bought my two newest watches.

Thanks Meredith. There's really no difference between both as the second one is marked down, it's just a question what watch face looks best. I think I'll go with the second one and add another band. The black is rather harsh, I think another color would look better on me and with my things. I found it hard to find something I like, there's too much going on in most cases for my taste. My current watch is rather simple too.

I much prefer the one with numbers. Particularly since the first watch doesn't include any signifier for "12". I MUST be able to tell time on my watch - some people buy just for looks, but I need form AND function.

The first watch face is also fairly similar to the one of my current watch, maybe it would be more interesting to go with the numbers and get something different. I don't need the signifier (I don't have one now and it isn't a problem), but I agree that function comes first. I don't want a watch face that's so ornate that I can't tell the time anymore.

I have looked for some bands, but I'm not sure what would look good with it. Maybe navy? Or pink to make it look more feminine? Croco? Or not? I've no idea...

I don't think you can go wrong with either... I do have a slight preference for the first one (I think the numbers look more fussy and I prefer the cleaner aesthetic of the one without the numbers) but not sure it is a 30 euro preference!

I have a watch with NO markings at all except for a gold spot where the 12 would be, and I can tell time on it just fine. I promise you get used to it. =)

Thanks Diana! I thought about getting the second one, because there are no numbers on my current one either and I want something different. Although I haven't seen the second one IRL, so I don't know how it comes across. I can see how the first one would be less fussy. I don't worry about telling the time, like you said, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

i think the pink is lovely, or perhaps white/cream, or turquoise are tops on my list right now. i am not sure of the quality of this brand but i find the concept quite fascinating...

Thanks Sarah. I'm not sure about white, but I like the idea of turquoise. It's actually no problem to change out the bands on most watches on your own, my dad does it all the time, coordinating the band with his clothes. You use one of these:

Two more bands. I think I like this blue one better than the one above, it's more RATE. Or maybe lilac instead of white?

I like numbers better anyway, so I would tend to say go for the send one. I also love interchangeable bands. But only you know if you will actually change your bands. I use my watches like jewelry that I switch around quite a bit.

Thanks for chiming in Isabel. I'm not sure if I would really change bands regularly, but I definitely want a different one for starters because that black croco band on the original isn't my thing at all.

I just ordered the second one. I'll post some pics and a keep or return when it arrives. Maybe I'll have some idea what band would go with it then.
