Returning Amber Sun moto

I'm getting up my nerve to return the amber Sun black ponte moto. I decided it's too light- sucking black. I even tried the tweed version to help make a decision but it wasn't right.
I want to shift to more medium tones.
More shades of browns and grays for
neutrals. Perhaps I aspire to be an Ent.

Funny, 'cos I think of black as light-sucking too. I never ever wear it next to my face. I'm a medium tone gal.

Diane, I will still wear black- trims, and tops under a more medium topper look good. I liked the ponte fabric & it looked easy to toss on over different outfits. I also tried a Halogen black leather jacket even though I'd been avoiding black. It didn't actually fit right, but it was also more confirmation to not buy mre black toppers. Am also on the lookout for more pseudo - neutrals like burgundies and purples since my goal color palette can be sometimes challenging to combine the neutrals.

That's how I always describe black! That's funny. I wear black, but often as an accent, or with warmer neutrals. I try not to use it as a base neutral because of the light-suckage. It can be an easy fallback, though. Good for you moving away from it!

I think ponte/knit and suiting materials are particularly light-sucking. Black leather usually has a softer, matte quality that doesn't *quite* have the same effect (although if I invest in leather anytime soon I'll also be looking for a colour).

Yes I agree, texture does play a big part in how light is reflected. I like the idea of burgundy and purple for you UF.

Jules, that's true! It' s why I gave the leather a whirl since black is so prevalent in various styles ( I have a dark brown).
So my leather wish list is a soft brown or warm gray or a color that reads lighter than my dark brown.

I returned the Amber Sun moto too, but more because it was too masculine on me. I bought the Halogen knit moto in black instead at Rae's suggestion. They make it in grey--maybe that would work for you? (If you order it, talk to Rae and she can order it for you!)

I agree that some blacks are light sucking. And good for you for returning what doesn't work for you. That grey moto is fun!
